Is this trend about info needed for Blown Engines:

Is that the case? Right now, it look like Pennzoil has the most "Blown engines"???

Or is everyone just answering the questions without a blown engine?

Just wondering?

"Oil and Blown Engines. Oil data needed."
LOL no, it is a collection of data for analysis, NOT if your engine was blown. You think all of us blew an engine?

1. What brand, weight, type of oil are you using?
Rotella T6 5w-40

2. How often do you change the oil?
5k-7k

3. Are you using a catch can and if so which one?
Installed Mishimoto can @ 2768 miles
Replaced Mishimoto can with UPR dual valve can @ 9978 miles. I also gutted PCV at this point.

4. If using a catch can how often do you empty it out?
I empty mine bi-weekly

5. How much accumulation do you have when you empty it?
With the mishimoto can I catching about 1 oz.-2 oz. The UPR can catches a lot more maybe 4 oz.-4.5 oz. Kind of surprised me when I first emptied out the dual valve can:shrug:.

6. If you're willing/capable of checking, how clean/oily is your throttle body? @ how many miles?
I checked the throttle body the same time I installed the UPR catch can @9978 miles with no signs of oil.

I hate to be the spoil sport here, but this is meaningless from an engineering standpoint. 1) you have too many variables and 2) you will a tiny sample size that is not at all representative of the total EB population. Plus, there are probably differences between 15 and 16 cars. Any conclusions you draw will be WAG's.

1. What brand, weight, type of oil are you using?
Motorcraft 5W-30 Full Syn

2. How often do you change the oil?
First change 3000 miles and then every 5000 or 6 months

3. Are you using a catch can and if so which one?
No

The car currently has 12775 miles on it (16 months old), with zero oil consumption. Stock all the way, as long as it is under warranty.

You should use the full quote:

I misunderstood the trend since the title was "Oil and Blown Engines. Oil data needed."

He's trying to figure out if there's any correlation between different oils and engine failures. I've said it a hundred times already, but I don't think oil or the catch can was the cause of Greg's failure. That engine seems to have already been hurt and sounds like it was letting boost into the crankcase thereby causing the oil in the throttle body issue.

5k
3. Are you using a catch can and if so which one?
Nope
4. If using a catch can how often do you empty it out?
N/A
5. How much accumulation do you have when you empty it?
N/A
6. If you're willing/capable of checking, how clean/oily is your throttle body? @ how many miles?
Zero oil in throttle body however lots of oil on the clean side routing back to the cold air intake

I have never had the smoking issue

I have just hit 25k miles and I have just installed the UPR DVCC and will be installing the CSCC soon I will update in 1500 miles

1. What brand, weight, type of oil are you using?
Rotella T6 5w-40

2. How often do you change the oil?
3K or sooner depending on how many trips to the track.

3. Are you using a catch can and if so which one?
UPR DVCC

4. If using a catch can how often do you empty it out?
With oil change

5. How much accumulation do you have when you empty it?
Quite a bit at first, now it has normalized. Just emptied it Friday, there was about 2-3 tablespoons of water/oil. Light brown.

6. If you're willing/capable of checking, how clean/oily is your throttle body? @ how many miles?
Just had the pipes off. Intake, turbo, hot side charge, intercooler, cold side, and TB are all bone dry. Not even a residue. 8600 miles.

Should have cataloged those who have actually blown their engines and what the believed cause was and what mods they have.

I think this thread is beneficial to know what kind of oil/miles people have on their engine. But, I do agree that the sample size/variables are too many to get meaningful results.
