Offset question - 19" Base Gt

Hi guys -

Cracked a black appearance rim the other day, so I'm looking for some replacements. One thing I never liked about them was how weak they looked when wrapped in my 255/35/19 tires...I regret the profile, but nothing I can do now - one more season.

My question is this, what's a good offset for 19" wheels..looking for something squared, maybe 9.5" wide? I have a base GT, no brembo. Offset is something I've always had a hard time understanding. I want something as flush as I can so I'm set up for a nice stance in the future.

Quick answer...I’d go with 35 or 40 personally.

After that google wheel offset and soak that in until you get a headache.

The right offset depends a lot on wheel width. 10" wide wheels look good with a 35 or 40 offset. With a 9.5" wheel you'd want a bit more.

If you're buying wheels anyway, 19x10" is pretty fun.

Here is a 19x10 with 47.5 offset and 285/35-19s.

Just one other comment: Sometimes good looks and practicality are in conflict. Having the wheels closer to the outside of the car looks better but if they are too far out the tires will throw up dirt and road scum on the rear quarter panels of the car.

I've got a lead on a cheap set of the PP wheels. Is the offset on those gonna be weird for a base GT, should be okay right? Not sure what the offset is on those.

If you are looking for aftermarket wheels. We recommend running 19x10 35MM with a 285/35/19 many cheap tire options.

They are 19x9 et 45 and 19x9.5 et 52.5. They need spacers to look great. They're also very heavy. I'd think twice to be honest, considering there are new 19x9.5 or 19x10 sets available for $600-800.

What size spacer you think, 23mm? I'm not lowered yet if it matters.

For what I'm getting them for, I think they're a good set to have. I've had hit or miss luck with aftermarket wheels in that price range in the past. A daily driver in NJ, I think OEM probably stands a better chance. The weight doesn't concern me much, doesn't see the track.

I had installed 20 mm spacers all around on my GTPP. There was zero poke front or back. The issue I had was that I needed to cut the wheel studs by about 3 mm in order for it to work.

If you want to avoid doing that, you can do 23 mm all around, but you will have some poke in the back. Fronts will be perfect.

I would strongly recommend getting aftermarket wheels. They will be lighter, perfectly offset and you won't be bitching about how hard they are to clean!

Definitely don't want to cut down the studs. I've heard about the PP wheel cleaning issues, though I think I'd have slightly less being that I don't have PP brakes. Aftermarket would be an option had I not been saving for a ring! Hard to beat $300 for a set.
