These are the cables needed to use existing USB ports, and should be MiniUSB inside.

If you're a Premium owner, check your cables, they should look like they will mate with this connector in green.

I'll clarify on my statement...

The apim has 2 USB ports, apparently only 1 is used.

Now if those USB cables are the ones he sent you, they're most definitely wrong. Those cables are for cars that don't have USB ports, I can send you the correct pair.
If I remember correctly, that's a Sync3 unit. My MFT Sync 2 only has one connector on the back (and two exposed PCB boards like the one on the left in your pic above).

I didn't get any cables from him, he just shipped stuff to you.

That's exactly the cable he showed me (assuming there's a female USB-A connector inside), I was hoping he would send you three of those as well. I'd be more than happy to take the one you have and test it out. If they work, we can ask for a few more for the other folks with Premium units.

EDIT: I misunderstood, that's just the normal cable I already have, right (with the mini-USB connections, that you use for the base model)? The one he showed me in the pic a few posts back has a longer cable.

That bottom cable is the one that is supposed to ship with all units, base or premium since the USB connection is the same on both. (MiniUSB) with the same shape connector. Why the cables that came in your unit were the external/add on cables, I don't know.

Sorry, I misunderstood. The cable in the photo a few posts back is the one he showed me that I actually WANT. Since that gives me 2 female USB-A ports I can then just use instead of the connections in my car, as I can't hook up that cable you showed (because I only have one connector coming from the car).

The cables you need will have a connection that looks just like the one on the back of the APIM.

I have that, but the problem since the beginning is that the Base model has two separate USB cables coming from the car, which plug into that cable you showed (and I already have). I can't use that cable because: 1. I only have one cable in my car, not two and 2. the connector is physically different, so I can't connect it to either plug because the plastic doesn't match up.

Just use that one connector. That OTHER cable, that looks like this:

is NOT what you need, it's for cars that don't already have USB ports.

But you have two of them, and the plastic is slightly different.
I do have two of them. Why? Not sure, but your car manages to connect both through 1 USB connection somehow. Have you verified that both of your factory USB connections work simultaneously for data? (Not just charging) and the connectors look exactly like mine. The two are shaped in a mirror image, did you try both USB cables? One will fit.

I will do some testing when I get the Premium cable set.

Look, I REALLY appreciate all you're doing to facilitate getting all these folks their units and cables, but you're being really stubborn. I told you multiple times the base cable does not connect to the single Premium USB connector. To you, it looks the same, but the plastic housing is different enough for it not to fit. You only see this when you have both up close, so please just trust me on this. There is no point for me to keep insisting on this if it wasn't true.

So, this is how we figure this shit out lol,

Someone with a premium, find the USB A that is next to the cig lighter, trace the cable all the way till it end, I have money that it is plugged into a little box with 2 cables plugged into it and 1 cable going to the mini USB port that plugs into your screen.

This is simple logic, there is no way for 2 cables to come off 1 cable, USB doesn't work that way.

I agree, I will try connecting the mini USB in the car to my laptop with that converter adapter when I install it. I figure it will likely just work that way. If so, I'll try to connect it to one cable set that comes out of the brown plug and see if that works on Android.

Easier than tracing the cable, it's a real pain to look at everything that's going on back there.
