I've got the base, but I had previously installed a PP dash and wired up the connector to get the gauges to work (minus the oil pressure which never really will) then went back to the stock dash since the air vents don't properly line up and the lack of oil pressure was bugging me.

But long story short, I still have the PP gauge connector plug behind the dash. So there's a place for that to plug into this unit as well for it to pull more data??

Also how does my unit say it was in HK on the 26th, and it'll be delivered to be by the 28th?? That's awesome, but sounds unlikely lol
If you have the2 wires coming off the 54 pin connector on pins 53 and 54, then it plugs right in.

Lol, yeah I don't know how mine is getting here before everyone else's. Maybe the employee at DHL when your 11 were dropped off was lazy. I'm going to hook it all up to make sure things work, but not button it up quite yet. Still waiting on the soldering gun and LEDs

DHL is a strange creature.

Lol, I've only used them a couple times.

That 4 pin harness you took the black and yellow wires out of. Is that harness the one closest to your thumb (marked #1 in the picture) or the harness marked #2 in the picture? Then inserted those into the last 2 sections on the bottom right of that harness ( if I counted correctly, those should be 53 and 54)? Just want to make sure I'm understanding you correctly, if I'm right, I'll try to do it and get a picture to help untangle the web on confusion.

Whichever end of that harness that has 4 MALE pins, pull the yellow and black out if it. (I cut my connector to get to the pins.) and yes, push them into the last two slots, 53y and 54blk. If you look at the harness on the car, it's numbered on the connector, and the new plug only fits one way, so you can line it up to tell which ones are 53/54.

I took the day off from work to try and revive my unit, to no avail so far. There is no apparent method to access a boot recovery, and even with the drivers installed, my computer doesn't detect that it's connected. I'm dead in the water for at least a week while I wait for a new brain from China.

Whenever I'll install the unit I'll try to find a way to get in that damn recovery mode. There's no way that we can't access it. We just need to know the trick.

I could get into it from the OS, but without being able tonstart, I'm at a loss.

I know there's a way from the OS but without being in the OS there's other ways. ADB (which you can't for now), and find the sequence to emulate the power BTN+ vol down. Or pwr + home + vol down. (Which this RST button is supposed to do but we just need to find out "how")

ADB was enabled before it went kaput, so it's just figuring out the trick to boot into recovery with the buttons, without actually having buttons.

ADB can be enable during boot too. On smartphones and tablets most of the time it's the following:

Pwr+vol down / pwr + home + vol down = recovery mode/ or choose another option
Pwr + vol up / pwr +home + vol up = download mode

Our issue is that none of those buttons exist... Joying has same problem but they have a special sequence with the REST button to simulate those buttons.

I wonder if connecting a keyboard would accomplish anything...

I used to have a program on computer to simulate those Android keystrokes. But the only way to make it work was ADB lol. A keyboard isn't a bad idea!
