A few years ago, my wife had a 2012 focus in yellow blaze metallic and since I knew it was a rare color, I waited until the 13's were on the lot and called ford customer service and got the yellow blaze production #'s. In 2012 ford made roughly 390K focus's for the north american market (US, Canada, Mexico) and only 4,123 were yellow blaze. I tried to get them to give me a list of all the vin's of the yellow ones so i could get the window sticker pdf's and breakdown by option each one but they refused citing legal reasons. Basically I was told I could use that info to falsely claim ownership of said vehicles and effectively legally steal them.

Wait a few more years and call http://www.martiauto.com/ and get a marti report for your car. The deluxe report gives you the breakdown of color and one option and the production #'s of said combo. Right now they have the #'s for every ford, lincoln, and mercury from 1967 to 2012 and the mustang up to 2014. I called them a few weeks ago and inquired as to when they would have the info on the 2017's and they said they just got the 14's #'s so it will be a few more years. My guess, they wont get the info until the S-550 is out of production and ford is building the next generation, and then they will only get a year at a time, not all at once.

I just ordered my Marti Report today. Looks like they are up to 2017 for mustangs now. Hopefully I will know the answers to many of the questions in this thread. At least for my specific mustang.

I am just waiting for the 2018 MY to be available. I am very curious how many Royal Crimson cars were produced. I expect very few, since it was a one year colour, and I’m thinking it’s because there was very little uptake on it.

I remember when they sold 300K or more of these. Back then though Mustang was kinda a cheap, affordable economy car in some trims.
Interesting that you mention this. I recently read yet another automotive writer panning the Mustang II. In its five year production run, it outsold the last five years preceding it and the first five years of Fox body production. It’s first year sales of 386,000 (without a V8 option) ranks fourth behind 1966 (607,600), 1965 (559,500) and 1967 (472,100).

this, plus i think that most of the MT are special orders...from what i have noticed in all the dealer lots around my area that i have been on, if they had a PP on the lot it had the MT, but the rest of the mustangs, no matter what trim were AT. like Texas said, they do this for one reason, to show the number cruncher that "we" dont like MT anymore, so why do we still need to build it?
more of the money, business aspect than the true nature of why we have MT in the first place.
for me if the MT is an option no matter what car im looking to purchase, i buy it
