Without spacer the tires were very close to the strut. The little tire hairs are touching. It's around 3mm of clearance. This is all on a 2016 GT PP with completely stock suspension.

With 5mm spacers. Everything clears just fine.

With the 5mm spacer I couldn't get enough thread engagement on the stock lug nuts (only around 5 turns or so) So I had to go with longer studs too. 3mm was the largest spacer that I could go and still get bout 7.5 turns with the stock lug nuts.

Let me know how the 295s fit.
Thanks for the info and pics. I think I may need to bump it up to 10 or 15mm with a 295 based on your photo there. I might just do 15mm and I can use the same spacer when I run the OEM wheels to space them out a bit. Which studs and lugs did you go with? APR through optimum? Would love to see some pics of the car with them mounted!

Yup, the kit through optimum. I ordered with their 15mm spacers but they are backordered until next week so I wouldn't have them in time for this weekends track day, that's why I picked up the 5mm to get something that would work until then. I'll get some pics today or tomorrow of the wheels on the car. It's been pouring rain and my garage is too small to get a good picture inside. With the 285/35 there is some more wheel gap obviously.

The wheel gap is something that I'll admit made me think twice about running an 18 (as I can't justify investing in coilovers and will instead run a spring and shock combo) but at the end of the day track performance is more important to me than looks so looking forward to some weight savings and tire performance!

Best one I have at the moment.
I cant get enough of Guard Green! I would finish her off with some black wheel hardware to match the wheels :D

Thank you for sharing.

I'm dying to get some of the new APEX 18x11" EC-7's in the mix here, those of you with pre-orders on the first batch are likely just as eager :headbonk:

Here is Borelli Motorsports S197 race car in the mean time.

  • APEX Wheels: EC-7 in Anthracite
  • Front & Rear: 18x10” ET43 wrapped in Toyo R888
  • Suspension: Coilovers and other goodies
  • Camber: Track/Race alignment

Her's my 2015 Roush with 18" x 9" Currently running 235/50-18. Sizing up on the tires in the next weeks to 255/45-18.
Just cannot decide what tire. Goodyear eagle f1 asymmetric 3 (Summer), BFG G-force sport comp-2 (Summer,) or Continental extreme contact DW (Summer).

To report back, my car is lowered on Swift Spec R springs with stock strut/shocks and maximum motorsport camber plates set at -3.6 degrees camber.

When I bolted up the 18x10 ET43 EC7 with Hankook 285/35/18 RS-4 tires, it barely fit and the tire rubbed the strut on anything past 1 full turn. But after installing the Cortex 1/2" spacer, it turns just fine at full lock.

Regarding the Hankook RS-4, it's hard for me to give you a real first hand review as I only have 50 miles on the tires. I don't like to push street tires until at least 300-500 regular street miles. But it does appear to be significantly stiffer than the old RS-3 and stickier. But again, it's difficult to tell without getting some heat in them. They are definitely wider than RS-3s or at least appear to be more broad shouldered.

Next track day is 8/04/17 at Buttonwillow for a private event. =)

I'll let you know how these compare to AD08R which again are my absolute favorite street tire.

I'll post some pictures later.

Just received great news from our production team. 18x11" EC-7's will be here ahead of schedule - mid June, followed by 19" EC-7's in late July.

This should give us some ammo for this thread real soon

In the mean time lets keep this thread rolling with some familiar shots from gtorpedo over on Track Mustangs Online. We are loving this S550 weekend warrior!
