Well, I’ve kept saying how fantastic my car runs and I’m about to give the Soler Performance TB a whirl.

Well, wouldn’t you know it! I went out last night to do some baseline logs in anticipation of changing the TB this week and then comparing.

The car ran like dog crap.

Right off idle and then throughout the rev range. Needless to say, there was no wot log.

From a stop, step on the gas about 50% and cough and hiccup specter then goes. Prior to this issue I would see likely 6psi boost and I would be gone! Didn’t make any boost at all.

Driving it feels normal. But, at times when I drop gears and try to get on it, sometimes it makes lots of boost and other times very little boost. I’ve seen it make boost as well but no subsequent hard acceleration.

No codes. No cel.

I changed the bypass reference line and removed the pill as well to have boost come in faster. No real difference. I haven’t pulled vacuum from the bypass to see if it’s holding but sucking in on the line I do see the arm move.

Checked TB, intake and vacuum lines and all status quo.

Going to pull plugs and have a look see.

Maybe a KAM reset as well.

I filled up with gas from my usual station as well but no change.

I’ll change e plugs and download the logs and see if I see anything. I’ll likely reach out to a few smart guys to get an opinion as well.

I’m dreading it’s not a cat issue. Bloody karma lol. I just sold my MAC deletes 2 weeks ago because I never really used them but a few times and it was a pain to switch out and back. Figured with @engineermike data and such I could make them live.

Wish I had a borescope to get a look see.

So if anyone has any ideas much appreciated.

Stupid karma... lol

Likely the culprit... any way to find out for sure?

Plugs were great - like new. Trying to download the logs I took last night but can't seem to get them off the nGauge.

What are other things that could cause this?

Thanks.

2016 Edelbrock supercharged auto. 3.55. Lund tuned. 18+ Air intake, NGK 6510s gapped at 28 like new. Gap at 28. Stock TB at present. Stock headers with cats. Ran this tune for 2 years and with never as much as a hiccup until this issue.

Vortech BAP, stock pump, DW 95 injectors.

No codes. Have checked plugs (perfect), TB and intake is clean. Catch can in place. Changed bypass pill (removed it) no change. Pulled suction on bypass valve and functioning fine.

Pretty tame build overall but works very well together. Not that I’m wanting codes, but it would show what the cause is likely to be.

What fuel type?

and what are your fuel trims and misfire counts showing?

I wouldn’t assume it’s the cats. It actually doesn’t sound like a cat issue to me.

Fuel is 94 octane Petro-Canada.

Short term Fuel trims are a tad higher on bank 1 but they have been since inception.

Where do I find misfire counts with the nGauge? Not pulling any codes...

That’s good... I hope. Trying to make them work.

I’m thinking it’s something stupid. Nothing has changed combo wise and the tune has worked flawlessly for 2 years. Don’t want to just throw parts at it in the hope it fixes it. Always figured that if something went wrong, I’d see a code and correct said issue. Stumped on the no code part though.

See anything in any of the logs that would make you suspect something?

I know diagnosing over an internet board is kind of wonky. But I’m a little stumped so reaching out for ideas.

Sounds like it’s time to go back to the basics. If it’s not running right then it’s either not getting the appropriate air, fuel, or ignition. Once you isolate it to one of those, then you can start trying to pinpoint it further.

Exactly right. Need air and fuel at the right time...

But is it air or fuel is the question.

I did a couple more logs last night that I’m going to try to get off the gauge. Seems all my cables are working with gauge.

I’ve had plugs (and cats) that were bad but appeared perfectly fine. However, both usually only affect performance at heavy loads and/or high rpm.
