OEM Clutch System Sounds

Hey Everyone,

I just had the clutch, flywheel, pressure plate, pilot bearing, and throwout bearing replaced after 34,000 miles (All OEM parts). I had my local Ford dealer do the install. I noticed this metallic whirring/rattling sound coming from the clutch. The sound has the same intensity throughout all the gears but usually gets drowned out by wind/road noise when I get up to 4th gear and so on. I went on a road trip after the install as I figured it would help break in the clutch, I noticed the sound hasn't gotten any better but hasn't gotten any worse after about 500 miles of driving. Also, I would like to add that the car drives fine and shifts great. I just find the noise a bit strange. I'll be taking it back to the dealer this week, but I am wondering if anyone else had had similar issues. I will try to post a video soon to help describe what I am talking about.

Yeah, a video would be great, to know what exactly you're talking about. But a noise that wasn't there, and now it is, and with all OEM components, doesn't sound right at all. What does the dealer say? Hopefully once you post the video, a transmission expert can chime in, to identify what was done wrong.

Hey, may I ask why you had to change the clutch that soon? They typically last 100K miles (if not more), so curious if your car is modified (and how), if you abuse your clutch a lot, or what happened. Maybe you bought the car used, and don't know what kind of life it had. Thanks man.

I've attached the video link below. The throwout bearing initially went bad at 34,000 (which I know is not uncommon for these cars), but I figured since I was opening the system up anyway I should just replace it all for peace of mind. I looked at the old clutch and it had about 45% of life left so that sounds about right. Right now the car is bone stock, I'll start the mods once the powertrain warranty expires this year. I dropped it off at the dealer today and they said it might be an exhaust issue since the sound happens both in neutral and in gear and both during start up and while moving, additionally, the sound is directly related to throttle input. I know you have to take the exhaust off to drop the trans so maybe it was put back wrong? Whatever it is, I wasn't having this sound before I took it to them so they must have done something incorrectly. It's a bit hard to hear in the video while I'm driving because of the wind noise and the exhaust, but on startup, it's pretty clear. Also, the noise is very apparent on a cold start. I would also like to clarify that the car drives fine, there are no issues with the clutch or engine that I am aware of, the issue is just audible.

*Final Update*

Noise was caused by loose exaust clamp. Dealer adjusted it in 10 minutes and it immediately went away. Typical over reaction on my end.
