One afternoon in Germany -Stationed in Germany, came upon an accident on the A5 where the car was wedged in between the fork of a large tree 15 feet off ground. Just as we passed, the passenger door open and two people tumbled out. This was my wife's first day in Germany and she looked at me and said, "I'm not driving over here". That lasted about three weeks with her getting most of the speeding tickets for our time there.

They do drive fast over there. The Germans would get very upset when the Americans would pass them and they couldn't keep up :)

What's wrong with that? I left my first car in that exact situation back in the '60s. Was playing rally driver on some dirt roads and was too fast for a turn and the car slid up a bank and went airborne.

What car?
Not sure if I should say in case it was your tree and you want to be reimbursed for damages. But should be safe with statutes of limitation and it being statistically unlikely you are a Native American. It was a '62 Corvair. Happened in late '68.

If it was your tree and the car is still there, I would love a picture.

I had an state cop in an unmarked car (a Mustang, no less) do this one time.
Back in the early 90's, I saw a state trooper had pulled someone over on the Mass Pike. The trooper was driving an unmarked Mustang with a WBCN bumper sticker and a fox tail on the antenna.

Yesterday I was on the highway, wasn't flying but was going maybe 75-80 in a 65. I passed what looked like an early 2000's GTO. Didn't look at the driver, didn't slow down to look at the car...nothing, just noticed it while passing by. Within 10-15 seconds, the guy moves over from his lane and is riding my bumper. Couldn't have been more than a few inches of space. My exit was coming up so I moved over two lanes so I could get off. So did he and continued riding my bumper until I got off.

Now I've had other cars wake up and then cat/mouse while driving spirited but this was different. I actually thought he was going to crash into me and he didn't back off when I came down 30mph or so to exit. I almost got the feeling like it was important for him to show me he could keep up or in some way dominate even though neither of us were even remotely close to our top speed.

Was this guy just a jerk or is there some unwritten etiquette that when one muscle car tailgates another that's like a challenge to race or something?? What's your experience been here?

Thanks!
I deal with this CONSTANTLY. It's not just muscle cars idiots in pickups are the biggest asshole tail gaters.

They think it's funny or something, but I don't...according to studies almost 70% of accidents are rear end collisions...

I seriously wish I could install spike balls like a James bond movie and deploy them every time these fuckers do this... And its why i dont own a gun cause id have a murder charge....

I just flip them the bird nowadays and they drive off... They tailgate because they want to annoy you... That's all its about. Just a bunch of assholes who need an ass beating

But go 10 over on your way to work...

One if my co-workers just got a ticket for swerving out of the way of a minivan that was driving halfway into oncoming lane. The cop said he didn't see the minivan...
Yeah... They never seem to see anything... I try to avoid dealing with cops because its always bullshit with them...

That's why i drive at the speed limit and try to maintain a gap. But it's frustrating when you're doing what you're supposed to be doing. And some tail gating piece of shit STILL rides up on your bumper...

I seriously hate these people. They need to kill themselves do us all a favor...

I had a tailgater one time, couldnt even see the headlights on the vehicle they were so close. They stopped tailgating after all four tires on my truck locked up...

I brake-checked a Butt-sniffer once; made him mad.
I ended up pulling over on a side road to let him by.

Used to get the 'Butt-sniffers' often in my '15 Camaro.
Seems most don't want to fool with the Mustang, though.

Lately I'll be on cruise and if I do get a tail-gaiter, I'll bump the cruise
down one, two or three mph.
That will usually get rid of them...........

I get that where I live now. Lot of trucks here and I guess they think cause I have a mustang that I should be going faster than I am.

What if someone T-bones you? Or tunnels under your car to steal your oil? Or uses a magnetic crane? The possibilities are staggering.
We're only talking about "tail gating" here. Have to draw the line somewhere. :)

I would do this if I could control my impulses in traffic better. I'm afraid the traffic cam will mostly capture my own stupidity.
