I recently purchased an Ecoboost 2018... Browsing the web I have investigated that it is an engine that is made for 93 octane fuel with a tolerance of 91 octane. I live in the Dominican Republic, where the fuel does not exceed 87 octanes, can I use an additive to raise the octane every time I put fuel? Wouldn't it affect the life of the engine?

I have found on Amazon an octane elevator called "Boostane" but I don't know whether to consume it and fight with the fuel deficit in my country.

These cars can run on 87 octane (I wouldn't go lower though) you just wont be getting all 310 hp that Ford advertises.

If i had to guess, running on 87 will produce around 270ish horsepower.

The problem is that in the region where I am located, there is no guarantee of how good the fuel is, I will attach an image of an octane test in the capital city of DR

If you’re able to there’s a tried and true option of a booster called Torco. If you go on their website it’ll give you a chart. With 87 oct two bottles in a full tank will net u 95 oct if I’m correct. The base they use is 91oct.

Edit: some folks don’t like it but I used it on my Vette while using a 200 hit of N2O and I never had an issue with detonation or anything. I’d use 64oz on half a tank with 91.

Thank you for your help friend but I have a question with the booster called Torco (I have never used it), I read that it put the plugs like orange color, in what does it infer that this put it orange?

I’ve heard of that but never had that issue happen because I wasn’t daily driving the car with it. It was just during track events that I would use it. I’d always check my plugs after going to the track because of the nitrous use and never saw it.

Torco and all other boosters will void your warranty and cause your cats to eventually fail. Says so right in your owners manual.

There is an end to the warranty period. And many here and on numerous other automobile forums choose to be their own warranty station.

Not judging, just sayin'.

I think that anything that you do to your engine that takes it from stock configuration to “Modified” (ie CAI) can be used to void your warranty. We are all big boys and we take that chance any time we do anything to our cars to modify it in any way.

It can run 87, won't be getting beat performance. But it won't have any issues.

As for quality of gas in your region. It's unfortunate you have no guarantees. But unless it a common occurrence, I would worry tooooooo much. But I'm not from your region so don't know how prevalent poor quality gas is.

Stang 19,
Good info. I never realized that so I looked in the owners manual and sure enough the Lucus Octain booster I carry in my trunk for when I get a bad batch of gas is 1-5% MMT according to the SDS.

The use of fuels with metallic compounds
such as methylcyclopentadienyl
manganese tricarbonyl (commonly known
as MMT), which is a manganese-based
fuel additive, will impair engine
performance and affect the emission
control system.
