Thinking about running torco in my ecoboost. Has anyone ever used it? If so what were you impressions? Does it require a tune? Void warranty due to it destroying cats and/or plugs? Don't plan on using it a lot just on our random trips to the track.

You probably won't see a gain without tuning specifically for a higher octane level.

That's what I was thinking. Never used it before. Just trying to get some input.

Octane booster works fine, but you would need so much of it to actually raise your octane it's ridiculous. Remember an octane "point" is 0.1 octane.

Torco is different from your sketchy Advance Auto NOS octane boosters. It does work and it works well, however, you won't see the benefits of it unless A) you have poor quality fuels in your area and are having detonation issues or B) you have a tune to take advantage of the extra octane, e.g. increase your ignition timing.

Now, with that said, do a Google search. Although it does work, when it burns it leaves an orange sort of residue in the combustion chambers, etc. Some have said that this didn't cause problems, but after seeing the results of running it a lot, I don't know that I would unless I was in a pinch and didn't have access to some race gas.

Being in a higher elevation area the highest octane we have here is 90. I wouldn't use but on Friday nights when I do go to the strip which isn't very often with an infant. I don't think It would really do me any good unless I tuned it for the higher octane. Just wanted some others input

If your octane adjust ratio in the ECU is already maxed out with the fuel you are using now, increasing fuel quality will not do anything for you.

You could boost the octane level enough to run a 93 tune, but look at some of the online pics before making a decision.

As Juben said, Torco is not your typical octane booster. Its actually concentrated race fuel additive and it works great. The issue I have with Torco is that it does turn your plugs a nice orange. Now most cars this won't be an issue. A lot of newer cars use the spark plugs as part of the knock sensor system and this can now become an issue.

With my E92 M3 the S65 engine uses the spark plugs with its ion control to sense pre-ignition and this coating can affect the correct functioning of this feature. Not sure on the 2.3 EB engine though.

BTW, I know guys with 1000hp blown C5 Vettes that swear by Torco.
