While this is the prudent thing to do, the reality is this is like saying because police officers patrol and it is illegal to speed no one speeds anymore. I realize there is a lot more to loose as a business, but the enforcement agencies are only so big; and this is true in all kinds of business; utopia is never achieved.
After everything that happened a few weeks ago I really don't think any of them are going to risk it now. If they are stupid enough to do so then so be it. It isn't like it was even a few months ago. They're being closely watched now. And most of them have even stated that they will not even install catless systems or any defeat tools on any cars nor will they tune them. At least not the good shops. Maybe some backyard shops or less reputable ones will. But do you wanna bring your car there? And even if you do, what happens when some kid gets pulled over and instead of taking the fine himself decides to rat out the shop that did it? Like I said, there is enough info in here for people to do whatever they want in 10-15 minutes without asking a shop to risk their business. Literally. 10 minutes with 1 wrench and 1 jack.

I am not saying don't do it yourself, I agree I try to do as much as I can myself; no one cares about your crap like you do.

Yes some are being watched, but the agencies can only do so much. Current google shows number of epa employees is 13,758. It is just numbers. They will go after the easy kill and the big shops; but they can only do so much.

Ok so you're saying to intentionally ask a shop to do something that you and them know is illegal even after this is the same nonsense that got us where we are now?? Seriously dude? Some shops got fined. Others had the feds show up. Do you think this is a joke or something? Take 10 minutes of your time, get your car, jack it up, get 1 wrench, literally, 1 wrench, and do it yourself. And if you get caught then it's on you. Why even ask a shop to risk their livelihood on something stupid that you can do yourself in 10 minutes at home without nobody ever knowing?

I am not asking anyone to do anything illegal, read what I wrote. I take words seriously, so are you joking? Words mean things. All I am doing is pointing out the obvious, that just like every other business out there people will continue to break the rules for profit; heard of the war on drugs? It was illegal, is illegal, and will likely always be illegal from now on. I am not condoning the behavior or saying it is the right thing to do, again pointing out the obvious.

Well if any shop is stupid enough to do this for anyone, after what just happened recently, then they deserve to be shut down anyway. What happened was basically a warning. And now even the major builders/shops/tuners won't touch that with a 10 foot pole for any amount of money. If it is worth the extra 20 bucks to a shop then they can go for it. When it turns out to be a setup or when some punk kid gets pulled over and rats them out or when some idiot posts it on FB and YT and throws the shops name in the post, then whatever happens will just happen. No sweat off my back really.
