I have been running Nitto's NTO5's non R, on my 2016 Mustang GT for about 2 years with approximately 20 thousand miles. Which is not too bad for those tires. however, when I went to change my tires back to the factory tires and wheels after a nail in the back. This is what i discovered. Please folks check your tires before any high speed runs. I have several runs on these tire of 160 to 170 and this was only a week prior to the change. I will NOT take this for granted again. I'm not sure what was rubbing, but it's rubbing on something with the 20" rims. My car is not lowered at all. I'm running 255/35/20 ZR fronts and 305/35/20 in the rear. Looking from the outside you would never see that the tire was coming apart

Front or rear rubbing (I'm assuming rear)? What wheel sizes and offsets?

35 aspect ratio on 20" wheel.
And that is what I get for reading a post before my coffee. I literally might as well be drunk before I get some java. I could swear that I saw 255/20/20.

I have 20 x 10 in the rear and 20 x 8.5 fronts. I felt i was safe with the rubbing, but apparently not. it only rubbed on the driver side, but cut an 1/2 grove around the tire. i'll retake the pic's at a lower resolution, so i can post.

What is the offset and backspacing? Do you have a link to the exact wheels you have?

Can you post a pic of the wheels? I feel like I am trying to solve a murder here with no evidence...

The rubbing is on the inside not the fender side? Since those tires fit in the wheel well without issue, your offsets are too high on the wheels. You probably need a spacer to push it away from the suspension side.

If the rubbing is on the outside/ fender side of the tire, your wheel offsets are too low and you need new wheels (or they can possibly grind the pad at a machine shop to increase offset?).

Some tires have a squared shoulder that can lend itself to more rubbing.
