I noticed this for the first time yesterday. Been driving it for 18 months now with almost 17,000 on the clock.
Pulled up to a red light after leaving the parking lot on the way home. Flat level ground so my foot was not on the brakes.
Clutch in, pushed the shifter up into 1st gear and got the usual "THUD" people complain about. Problem was, the car jumped slightly forward as if the clutch pedal wasn't all the way down.
I've often felt like the clutch didn't have enough throw giving complete clutch disengagement causing the notchy shifting between 1-2 and 2-3.
Is this normal??

I would think probably. The friction plate was probably still spinning with the clutch depressed just from ever so slight friction as the friction plate won't automatically center itself on the spines. Once you put it in gear the friction plate will stop, but the momentum of it could make the car lurch slightly.

Yes. If you put it in 1st very quickly after pressing in the clutch, the input shaft would still be spinning a little bit.
That's also when most people hear the thud.

Google clutch drag. To check chock your front wheels, put the back on stands put the clutch to the floor and shift into first. With your clutch still pressed look back at your rear wheels to see if they are rotating. If they are you have clutch drag and should get it fixed before worse damage occurs.

This happens to me too. Been that way since I drove it off the lot.
