For the past month, I’ve been experiencing a strange noise that I haven’t been able to capture on video or audio. It only occurs in very quiet situations, typically when I’m in a parking lot and the car is rolling slowly—without using the accelerator.
When I turn the steering wheel slightly left or right while rolling, I hear a repeated “whomm whomm whomm” sound coming from underneath the car. It’s difficult to tell whether it’s coming from the front or rear, but it feels like it’s coming from directly beneath the vehicle. The noise does not occur when driving straight—it only happens when turning, even slightly.
I can also occasionally hear it while driving at normal speeds in everyday traffic.
The Ford service center recently replaced the power steering system, but as I suspected, the noise remains. I also told them to check the break components, joints, everything OK they told me...
I’m now wondering what kind of components could cause such a noise only when turning—especially from underneath the vehicle. I’m really at a loss.
One possibility (though I’m not convinced it’s the issue) is that it could be related to the winter tires I’m still using, even though temperatures have been between 10–20°C lately.
