Thank! Now if we could get verification of material of the piston. Are they still cast or did they sneak forged in there too? I suspect if forged they'd be touting it

Supposedly all of the internals are forged.. :clap2:

I've never seen that officially. Can you provide proof?

No offense, I'd just rather not bank on a "supposedly" when deciding boost level.

The piston looks hypereutectic and the rods are powder metal forged, not true forged such as the stock Boss 302 Mahle pistons and aftermarket H-Beam Manley rods found in Aluminators.

These are the same processes used on 11-14 Coyotes. The 2015 rods are beefier and it looks like the pistons are as well. They should hold more power than the outgoing Coyote but by no means would I consider it a motor fit to make big power with as is.

My understanding...and i believe that I read it here on this forum somewhere, is that the crank is forged as last years...except it's been rebalenced. The connecting rods where beefed up and forged using a process called...Sinter Forgeing. (???). However the piston where not forged on purpose.

According to the article that I read, the Ford engineers decide that the forged pistons take longer to heat up and expaned. Causing a bit up blow bye during warm up, which didn't fit into this years emissions target.

I guess the Fed's are really getting stricked on emissions during cold start ups.

looks like steel ring land inserts or hard anodized? guess that's wishful thinking. probably just machine marks or a coating...

Cast pistons with anodized ring lands.. Powder metal forged rods (not that bad), and crank is the same as the Boss. This came from Ford reps on hand at SEMA. Good for 700whp and 7k rpm with a little bit of safrty margin.

isn't that the motor that runs these?

Haha Nah, It came out of a fire truck.

But I can tell you the size of those engines, though. They are V16's with 11" bores and 11" strokes. You need an overhead crane to remove the piston and rod assembly. The block costs a cool $400,000. JUST the block...

The crank is good for 700 or the whole rotating assembly? That's insanely impressive if its for the whole assembly. I wonder how long the stock bottom end can last with 700hp?

Have you guys taken your Kenne Bell GT to the track yet?

A v16 with an 11" bore and 11" stroke is 16,726ci or 274L.
