Ranchero I would appreciate that. My studs are fused to my old turbo. I get a can use some serious leverage to pull one out for reference but it will jack up the threads. The heat seems to bonded them to the turbo.

I bought two temp bolts last night but they didn't fit although the nut fit. It was too big to fit into the threaded hole of the new turbo.

Where is the best place online to fine the specs for the new studs?
Have you tried the two nut approach? No pun intended :D

Seriously though. Thank one nut and thread it onto the stud upside down. Take the other and thread it on after the first right side up. Thread the top one down tell it bottoms out on the first. From here you should be able to take a wrench to the bottom nut and turn both it and the stud. You should also be able to exert quite a bit of force with this setup without damaging the threads.

Worst case is that you snap the stud off at the turbo flange. Best case is that you get the stud out.

Why would you imply that? Is it wrong of me to visit the EB section? To take an interest in something other than the V8 and to have a sense of humor about it in the process? If your weren't referring to me disregard the questions.

I believe he was referring to me, but nonetheless, I'd pretty much have responded with something along the lines of what you posted.

Frogger, you need to order the studs and nuts, I tried to pull one of mine out and it gonna take more effort then I can give it right now, I think the nut is 10mm x 1.5 thread pitch.

I don't think this has been mentioned, but this is the quickest way to screw your valvetrain. Cold(er) ambient air being sucked back onto mega hot valves on decel can warp valves in an instant.

I'm sure you won't be the first to drive without a down pipe. Just let us know how it runs and your thoughts.

Trolling?
He's not trolling. Last month he posted up a couple threads about getting a replacement stock turbo because he unknowingly dropped a nut into the turbine while working on the car and it destroyed it. Seems he finally got a replacement.

Frogger, measure the length of bolts, break one free near where it screws into the turbo housing, go to your local hardware store and find a match. Either that or call your dealer and see if they can't overnight you the bolts.

Oh and as stated above, you cannot drive without the DP at the very LEAST. Both of your O2 sensors plug into it, telling the computer how rich or lean the vehicle is running. Without that, it may start and run but it will be running incredibly rough and it will change it's adaptive values to try to compensate for the insane amount of oxygen present in the ambient air as opposed to the minute amount that exists after the combustion process. You will HAVE to take it to a dealer to get them to reset the adaptive values. That's provide that you don't spit flames all over the engine bay and burn up your car.
