Look...I agreed with you about the exhaust....which is why I changed my post to say exhaust vice gas as I associate gas with exhaust but I can see where you were coming from about gas being a different smell...so for crying out loud I agree'd with you and then you insinuated I was trying to make you sound/look like an idiot which I was not trying to do...so who is putting words into other peoples mouths?

Can we let this one go and let people know that the occasional smell of exhaust when idling/sitting at a stoplight depending on which way the wind is blowing is normal with an off road application?

Does every post have to have an argument in it? When I gut the cats or run with out cats I sometimes have an exhaust smell. I have ran cat less on six of my cars, at some point on all of them exhaust could be smelt.

Yes that's a given but not through the vents &I believe that was his issue

Correct, I can smell the same smell when the heat is on. On recirculation, the smell goes away. I will recheck all my connections. It's there a torque value on the DP adapter nuts?

Please keep in mind that when you remove the converter you are getting raw HC's out of the tailpipe.(hydrocarbons) so thats may be what your smelling.

The cats job is to store oxygen and to chemically bond that 02 molecule with the HC molecules, the CO molecules and the Nitrogen molecules so whats coming out of your exhaust is not what went into the cat.

But how would that end up in the vents? I get smelling a little more exhaust but for it to travel from the rear all the way into the vents..?

You could have a small leak thats for sure and that leak is getting in via your outside fresh air feed. With a donut gasket its really hard to get a bad seal so recheck your work and see if its off a bit or leaking.
