I was told by a tech at my dealership that the thumping is completely normal on the car (this guy is a specialist and has been doing his job for over 20 years) but I'm starting to doubt him since I haven't really seen anyone else saying this is normal.

I'm no expert on these things, but I've driven a few other RWD cars with IRS and they don't make this noise. Perhaps it is normal, but just bad engineering. Either case, I'm losing faith in Ford after this plus all the body panel issues I have as well as the horrific MFT...I'm starting to understand why the German cars, which Ford is now trying to compete with, cost more...you get what you pay for! :frusty: I guess I can't complain given that fact and price point....thought I would have maybe gone for a used 2013/14 had I known I was going to go through all these issues.

I don't think the Thud is in the half shafts on my car. Mine happens at point when I clutch in and move the shifter. I don't have to release the clutch for the noise to happen.

Yeah that's the thudding I hear. My clutch does make a lot of chatter and rattling noises however and gear engagement can be difficult at times.

Yeah I've heard others saying that is the noise they get, while mine seems more like after you release the clutch, but it still could possibly be something in the drivetrain in your case...when taking a load OFF the axles? Hard to say...

I am also interested in this I contacted two local dealers trying to find out if the shafts are different both said no once talking to the parts department. They said they only show one part number for a LH and a RH. Would be interesting to see if they are different.

The left and right side are indeed different. I saw this pointed out on half shaft videos on youtube.

I know that what I was asking is for clarification that there is a different part number for the STD GT and the PP GT. They said they only showed one part number for each side and it was for the 15 GT. The v6 and eco had a different part number. Which would lead me to believe all the GT have the same half shafts, there is no difference in the PP or STD

My thoughts would be if they upgrade or replace it at the dealer maybe they would just use the gt half shafts on the pp ecoboost. Idk but that seems like the cheapest solution for ford. Unless they are slightly different in length. Wouldn't be the same since its still the same axle? Maybe a bad batch of parts.

This is good stuff Todd. Would definitely like to know. My PP was built before December. Mine seems to have a lot of slack when going slow. Just engaging the clutch and pulling up the drive you can feel the slack. Not sure its the drive shaft or the axles.
