op only has 2.3? or am i blind. I thought it was removed after the Ford lawsuit threat. i know i dled it from there at one point in time.

pretty sure you'd need a aftermarket AIO tweak, forscan allows factory settings tweaked

Ok, so here are my dumb questions:

• When you use Google Maps via the Google Auto option, does that count against my data plan? My phone currently has 10gb per month limit. Or, like the Tesla, does the car have its own Cell/Wi-Fi capability?
• Can a 2015 have its Sync 2 upgraded to Sync 3 at the dealer? For what cost?

Dealer as I understand cannot update to Sync3. With a donor screen and APIM programmed by yourself or a third party you can achieve. Just completed retrofit for under $850.

I am told Waze is a Data hog.

Even it if it does I will happily take it over Apple Maps. I will admit it has gotten MUCH better but still not good enough to sway me. Every time I try to use it I get stuck in a parking lot on the freeway or told to make illegal u turns.

ford released this SSM regarding wifi popup on 3.0..apparently factory installed vehicles also come with this issue



1/31/18: "Jan 31 2018 5937 - 2018 Various Vehicles - SYNC 3 - SYNC WiFi Update Message Displayed Every Key Cycle

Some 2018 Ford and Lincoln vehicles equipped with SYNC 3 and a 6, 8, or 10 inch screen may show a pop up message every key cycle that states "SYNC can check for updates when connected to a WiFi network". To remove the inconvenience of the pop up the customer can either connect to a trusted WiFi network to complete the set up process or turn off WiFi in the WiFi settings located under the Settings menu.Adjusting the setting for the customer is not a warrant-able defect."

so version 18025 is floating around and was able to get the change log on it:

1. sound quality improvement over older versions especially build 17276
2. improvements/bug fixes for voice recognition
3. bug fix over ios 11.2.5 with applink connectivity issues
