I built mine to go fast, just not on the street.

We have neither around here so it's a mall crawler unfortunately... So it just looks pretty and sounds good. It's on top perch which would be terrible off road anyway and 35 toyo M/Ts

Mine only really gets beat on during hunting season, besides that the most it sees is some dirt roads around my buddy's property and mud when I get the itch.

Performance is a relative term when talking about a Raptor. To me, it's about more than just pure power power. It's the ability to go off-roading at a sustained 3000-5000 RPM for miles and not worry about heat issues.

Am I the biggest fan of the 6.2L? Not really. It's a "new" V8 with 20+ year old technology. But it's a work horse; strong, reliable, and good power. It's easy to see why this was the motor of choice for the Raptor. And at the time it was instated (circa 2011), I can't see Ford going with any other available F-150 motor. It was too early to tell how stout the 5.0 was going to be. We know now that it would have been more than up to the task, but for a truck that was overbuilt from day 1, why not grab the big old gasser for the Super Duty?

Plus, Ford never thought the Raptor would be as popular as it was. They thought it was too niche of a vehicle and wouldn't really catch on; kind of like the Lightnings in the 10th gen F-150s. It'd be a cool project for a few years and then that would be it. But now that it's the crown jewel of the F-150 line-up, they're going to throw the EcoBoost badge on it so more people start to believe in the EB technology.

pinero61 - What suspension set up are you running on your EcoRaptor?

ARS1 - I would recommend taking all 3 of your trucks down to mid-perch. Going to top perch on the 2012+ trucks causes issues with the Torsen diff and will eat up your CVs and IWEs when you use 4x4.

I've been contemplating it because I already have something rattling around up there when I hit a bump that's driving me crazy. I think once I fix that I'll bring it back down to mid perch.

I agree, the torsen does not like the binding associated with top perch at all.

I'd suggest possibly going down to first and stacking a level. Since you don't off-road it'll net the best possible ride w/ the ride height you want.

Nice setup!

I would advise against the hockey pucks. Folks on the forums have had issues with them, they limit suspension travel (non-issue here I suppose), and cost money. I've been on mid-perch for 30K miles now, the truck has seen plenty of hang time and off-road use, and no issues from the front end at all. And mid perch rides rough for about a week and then it settles back down and is comfortable, that was my experience anyway. But the Deaver +2s really did a number for ride comfort.

I've been at mid for over a year now, no issues.

The +3's are bad ass, but what a PITA it is o get the ride height correct. Oh, and 37's are the shit. [emoji16]

Mine was at Mid Perch when I bought it as I got it used and I took it up when I put the Toyo's on about 6k miles ago. It had 37" BFG A/T's on it when I got it and it looked terrible to me. I've never been a fan of "stuffed" trucks at all. So I took it down to 35"s. Aside from the clunk the ride is pretty stiff at at top perch as well. My wife's is stock bottom perch and rides like a Cadillac compared to mine but I hate the rake they have stock.

The fenders I run give a a good bit more clearance than the raptor does. I'm running Mickey Thompson ATZ p3's.
