OEMs don't want people playing with their vehicles because of EPA/CARB. And, OEMs are getting into the aftermarket business themselves now more than ever. Look how many parts are for sale for the Bronco, F-150, Raptor, and Super Duty that are all Ford branded OEM parts? Follow the money.
Bumping this thread back up. I'd like to make some Forscan changes to my car.
1. Double honk disable (covered above)
2. DRL stripes at full brightness with parking lights and headlights on
3. Front turn signals and marker lights on with DRLs
4. Security Mode (can't shift out of Park if fob is...
If you guys would like a bit of sympathy and compassion, when I ordered my Raptor it took 6 months to be delivered. And this was in 2013 after they'd been building them for 3-4 years.
Nice setup!
I would advise against the hockey pucks. Folks on the forums have had issues with them, they limit suspension travel (non-issue here I suppose), and cost money. I've been on mid-perch for 30K miles now, the truck has seen plenty of hang time and off-road use, and no issues from...
Performance is a relative term when talking about a Raptor. To me, it's about more than just pure power power. It's the ability to go off-roading at a sustained 3000-5000 RPM for miles and not worry about heat issues.
Am I the biggest fan of the 6.2L? Not really. It's a "new" V8 with 20+ year...
I would just like to have the 5.0 as an option. Plenty of giddyup, huge aftermarket support, and that V8 sound.
Another concern is heat. I've seen both a turbo'd 6.2L Raptor and a EcoRaptor 3.5L conversion have fires at off-roading events. I'm sure Ford has taken care of, but a good NA...
Not disagreeing that the power of the 3.5L TT is going to be great. And I can understand your point, to an extent, when talking about cars. But on a truck, sound is important. One of my favorite things about my Raptor is the sound of the 6.2L with my Borla exhaust.
I'm considering trading up, but still hesitant on the motor. Not because I doubt the power, I'm more concerned about the sound. Can't have a big truck sounding like something out of F&F.
With all these warranty issues around tunes coming out and car companies trying to fight tuners for copyright infringement, it's only a matter of time before piggybacks and this plug-n-play standalone unit from AEM become more common in the aftermarket world.
From a financial standpoint, it makes sense. But I'd rather go with the company that sends me updates often to keep me up to date. You never know when the local PD might pick up a set of VPR guns.
Ahh, correct. I misspoke. I should have said the ZR Series, since they did move from the ZR3 to the ZR4.
That being said, yes, the LSP system is updatable since it is merely a re-branded Laser Interceptor system. But have they ever released an update? Correct me if I'm wrong, but the folks...
Blinder and Laser Interceptor no longer update their systems. The only ones that do are ALP.
And I wouldn't hold my breath on Escort updating the LSP (rebadged Laser Interceptor). They never updated the ZR4 shifters and those were well known to not perform well.
