Come back and let us know how perfect your GM product is. We all know those never have problems.

I never had piston slap on my first LS1 back in the day, or bad orange peel or panel fitment, or axle bolts that loosened themselves up over my last 20 years of GM performance cars. ;)

Every manufacturer has some issues and some specific cars are worse than others.

Updated : so this is how ford takes care of the car and Golf Mil Ford Dealer operates... They can't figure out what is wrong??? Arrogant and assholes...they had the car for 2 days , replaced a part that didn't need to be fixed , admitted it still clunks into gear and then ford tells them it is normal.... First and last ford ever...

As for the creaking I had a GTO and it was parked outside for 8 years and didn't creak .... Sorry but this Ford Mustang looks good but is a piece of shit.. My mistake .
My GTO has been garaged for 10+ years and has lots of buzzes and rattles. Especially when cold. As well as every other GM car I have had. Sounds like the main issue is one your dealer cannot locate and fix. Take their advice and find another dealer service department. If you are in the Chicago area they should literally be all over the place. Looks like they gave you free rental at least as well. Post up a vid of the sound here and maybe we can help and take it to another dealer to get their opinion and share with them all that this dealer has tried. Shit happens, cars aren't all perfect. This could happen with any manufacturer. Let us help if we can. :)

Our 2009 G8GT which has been garaged and well taken care of sounds like a Singer sewing machine with all its lifter clattering, has a permanent CEL for the gas cap being loose, when its not, wears tires unevenly even after proper alignments, destroys front suspension parts with every day normal driving and has had interior trim issues from day one. I've never owned a new GM car that hasn't had at least a few issues. So far so good on my Mustang but I'm realistic in that I know something will pop up.

I think the OP had unrealistic expectations from the sound of it.

It sucks that your car has a "clink" issue. Stuff like that happens, it's an imperfect machine made by robots made by imperfect beings.

That being said have you tried taking it to a different dealer as was suggested?

Not to be a complete jerk, but is it also possible there is a bit of buyers remorse in this? You said you were a life-long GM guy wow'd by the new looks "but it's just a POS". Frankly I think a bit of brand loyalty may be "enhancing" the noise.
I think you nailed it.

I was mostly a Ford guy until I made a huge mistake in buying a 2003 diesel superduty pick up.
Ford ran like the wind trying dodge warranty repairs on all the models that came with the 6.0 diesel.
I went through the buy back and got all my money back as well as 15k for ignoring certified letters.
I haven't owned a ford product for 12 years as a result. I got a very good deal on the mustang and so far I really like the car, but I knew damn well what I was getting into this time.
If you are not happy make sure you send everything certified mail. I had the truck for three years.
Good luck.

Look at the superduty sales, I know people who traded in the 6.0 to get a 6.4 and that motor was just as bad. A fool and his money right.
What matters is the manufacture standing behind the product they sell.

Got the car back and took some video. (sorry for the darkness ) you can hear the clunk noise that Ford says is "normal".

Will be taking the car back to a different dealer to see what b.s. they will say....

As for the Gm loyalty i never had a car fall apart from GM or Chrysler this fast ..... This being my first Ford it has become a pain. No loyalty to Gm as I did fall in love with the car, but regardless the product from Ford is failing me fast.

I just watched your video, are you just putting in gear? I would tell the dealer to get an appointment with a regional service manager.

Yep, going from Park to reverse or drive causes that noise... Seems that the driveshaft is under load, but the shaft was just replaced.

Contacted Ford and they will be calling me Monday. I have to contact another Ford dealer and schedule an appointment. Disappointed that the dealer I gave $40k to has treated me so poorly. Will see what happens with this car.

I did have 900 problem free miles before this...LOL

i'd search for the dealer that has the best service dept ratings in your area and bring it there.

That noise sounds like something hitting the bell housing or something, because of the how loudly it resonates. There's definitely something wrong, but it's not like your car is "falling apart".

I'm with you on this. Ford gets ONE chance to do things right, but GM, I love them so much, even if they screw up once, they get ALL the chances!

Fact of the matter is cars aren't perfect, and people are certainly the farthest from it. Just go and try another dealer; pinning your rage at an entire brand based on one dealer experience is just dumb.

Or maybe just get your car bought back and go back to your darling GM, because they're so perfect no matter what flaws they have and nothing will ever change that right?

Yeah, GM.. Perfect. Like the Corvette creating windows in the block...

But do get it assessed again - ALL dealers are hit or miss man. Hope they find a fix for your issue
