I’m new both this forum and Mustangs. I recently bought a ‘2016 V-6 convertible. My wife and I have had 6 convertibles in the 55 years we’ve even married, and I had 2 prior to that. I bought my first ‘Vert in 1964. Along the way I’ve had a Plymouth, an Edsel, 2 triumphs, 2 Chryslers, and a jeep. This Mustang is my 7th convertible.

ABOUT ME
I was born and raised in the Denver Colorado area, i. Currently live in Savannah Ga. I graduated from high school in 1966 and went straight to the Marine Corps and onto Vietnam. I survived 12 months into a 13 month tour. Then the TET Offensive happened in January 1968. I was wounded pretty severely and spent 27 months in various hospitals. I was finally Medically retired as a Sergeant with a 100% disability rating.

I’ll follow with round 2 of my story in a couple of days.

I hope you and your wife get lots of good times with your Mustang.

Being with your wife for 55 years is a blessing, as I'm sure you know. My wife died much too young.

As someone who graduated high school in '67, I definitely remember those days. I didn't serve (4-F), but friends did, and I saw close up how it affected them when those who survived came home. The Tet offensive was a really big deal on the nightly news; I can only imagine what you must have gone through. Not to denigrate the other branches of the service, but enlisting in the Corps earns you even more respect and admiration in my book. I'm sorry for what you went through, but I'm glad you recovered and were able to have a long life after that nightmare. My best wishes to you and the Mrs.

Thanks for the welcome LT I’ve got a lot of military in my family, most of them Army along with a Marine and 3 Sailors. So I won’t hold it against you that you’re Army, in fact my youngest grandson is at Fort Liberty undergoing SF training, he’s already Airborne.

Welcome to the forum. Prepare yourself for increased expenditures and topic drift.
