I got my quote and am scheduling the service sometime today. I received two quotes from this company. I'm going with the level 2 coating they offer which is only a few hundred more than the standard epoxy. It's a PPG product that is a polysiloxane coating. It's used in military marine applications, oil rigs, airplane hangers and apparently the NASA launchpad. Product is PSX700. It's very corrosion and heat resistant, and can be infinitely re-topcoated whenever needed without any sanding or prep beyond washing. They'll diamond grind and vacuum off the top layer of concrete and apply the following layers:

epoxy coat
non-slip aggregate layer
50% chip coverage layer
polysiloxane layer
nano-aluminum reinforced clear coat
additional non-slip layer

They are also doing the 12" footings of the foundation around the walls of the garage. The coating has an expected life of up to 25 years with maintenance and the occasional re-coat, which I can do myself. Two days of labor for a total of a little over $3,000 for a three stall garage.

Nice. Is diamond resurfacing really needed on new crete?

I want to do things right the first time. The new concrete does have some imperfections in it, and it's finished in a very smooth texture. The grinding will give it exponentially more surface area to bind to. I'm only in my early 30s but plan on this being a very long term home. Everything we picked out was exactly what we wanted. It was cheaper to do it up front than to renovate later. That's my same approach to the garage.

I also went to a lift store today and got to play with a Challenger CL4P9X lift. That's going in right after the floors :headbang:

Thread revival! I've been looking around and reading in different online communities about garage/flooring options.

I'm moving to a new spot soon (live in the bay area) and want to put some work into the garage for my track car's new home.
Along with painting and some workspace upgrades, I'm thinking about doing a RaceDeck install. The first pic is very similar to
my garage space and I like the look of it. I also like the red accents of the next pic. The third one is what's going in it.

My question is what is everyone's opinion of RaceDeck? I would like to avoid epoxy-coating as its permanent. Are there any
pointers or things I should look out for? I've read that a couple layers of landscape fabric thing pre-tile is a good idea.

Thanks for your help!

I installed RaceDeck flooring 4 years ago and I’m VERY happy with it. Nothing underneath it, just concrete. Easy and fast to put down. Easy maintenance to keep it clean. The size of the garage is 22’ x 27’ and cost $2300.00. Floor was done in around 6 hours ready do drive my cars on it. The panels are XL (18”sq)

This is great man, thanks a bunch for the info!

Do the tiles make a sound when you walk/drive on them? Some mentioned that on a different forum and that's why I mentioned the landscaping fabric.

Your garage looks great btw:like::rockon::inlove:

When walking on the floor there is a little noise, very little noise! it’s not obnoxious at all. There is an option from RaceDeck with little rubber snubbers on underside of the panels. I my opinion it’s not necessary. There is a garage attached to this garage (sliding glass door on the left) i’m Going to install the same flooring in that garage. Four of friends have installed RaceDeck flooring in their garages after seeing mine. Nothing underneath except concrete, no complaints about noise.

For the racedeck, are you able to provide them a lay out of your garage? I have stairs leading the house and some bolted down things that can't move that I'd need to go around and would hate to cut these my self

A friend of mine made me a fixture to help cut the panels. The fixture helped immensely.
I had to cut all the panels on the outside edge all around the perimeter. My friend measured
And would say cut off 6 1/4 inches, I’d cut it then hand it to another friend who snapped it together.
In about 1 1/2 hours we made it all the way around.

RaceDeck is not made for looks only. It'll take whatever you want to throw at it. Sure, it's a plastic, so it can be damaged, but jacks and jack stands and maintenance are not going to hurt it. Do not put anything underneath. The tiles (at least the free flow ones I Have) are designed to channel water down and away. I would think something underneath would just be asking for issues.

They have a self use floor designer tool right on the site where you create your dimensions and lay out your floor. It took me two years, yes, 2 years, to come up with something I knew I'd be happy with and pull the trigger. But you can totally cut this stuff to fit against or around anything you need to. I highly suggest going to your local tool place and renting a table saw. Made for quick work of the job.

OH...AND they are an amazing company. Outstanding customer service and support.

Someone else on this forum just did thier garage floor recently and added a mini split air conditioner. It looked great from the photos.

I have a mini split in my house for one of my rooms and those kick ass and are cheap to run.
I'm having one of those put in the Snake Pit 2.0

I went with Racedeck too recently, very happy with it.
