New Car Old Nav

I just got my 2017 Mustang with Navigation last week. I was shocked to find out that the street my work is on is not shown. It is a new road, but has been there over 2 years. I looked through the screens and it looks like my maps are dated Q1 2015 (if I'm reading it correctly). Is it not reasonable to assume that a brand new car will have current maps loaded on it?!?!? The salesman that did the car features walk through said I get map updates for free so I wasn't too concerned, but then I saw in the manual that I have to pay for map updates.

Anyone else get a new car with old maps?

The OEM maps in the car are dated and will always be behind because they are slow to update. I just use Google Maps or Waze.

At least, Here Map company remembered to digitize lakes for the new NAV system.
My 2015 uses the old memory chip system. The 2015-16 A6 is missing all lakes including Lake Superior for Minnesota and northern Wisconsin. I bought a 2014-15 A5 chip on EBay to use when I am generally driving around Minnesota. It is disconcerting to be driving for miles adjacent to a large lake and the NAV map just shows a huge blank area.
I use the somewhat newer A6 when I drive out of state. But the 2015-16 chip only has up to 2014 roads mapped on it.

I use a Garmin GPS in my truck and the maps are updated free at least twice a year and the maps seem to be no older than 6 months...unlike Ford's.

its the new system, I have that problem too. the new system is outdated, new hardware with old information.

at least u got android auto with apple carplay, u can always use those for google map (which is way ahead of everyone else)

The A6 chip displays lakes NOT located in MN or northern WI. You can check to see if the A7 really was fixed by cursoring over to MN or northern WI. If you see Lake Superior at Duluth, they fixed the problem for A7.

I put Duluth into my gps as city center and it has a bunch of blue stuff labeled superior. Zoomed way out you can see all the great lakes.
