No. Performance wise, it's "One Iteration of the Muscle Car War--Ahead." Meaning, the pendulum swung GM's way because they introduced the 16 SS a year plus later than the 15 Stang.
This "iteration" is not huge. It's what you would expect. It will be answered in time.
GM and Ford will continue this battle. Dodge will not be part of it as it offers a totally different formula/option for a muscle car.
The ugly Camaro is only slightly better in power/weight and handling....at the expense of everything else, including the dignity of the driver.
