So that is the question for anyone familiar with technological specifics.

Those who receive new short/long blocks - are they supposed to be broken in before installation by the factory?

Lets not discuss how the driver should drive it first n miles here.

For examlpe I've seen info on subaru forums - it looks like common knowledge in there that short blocks are broken in from factory. Here at the forum I've seen a lot of service advisors saying no need for break in. That might mean they are broken in before installation. Overall this should be a common pattern for the whole industry.

I wouldn't assume a new short block is 100% broken in and you could go out and redline it instantly.

No they are not broken in.

But if you refuse to believe all the evidence of sloppy fit and finish and bad block casting then what can anyone say. Do you really believe your car’s engine was hand made by a master machinist from the F1 circuit and then meticulously run on the dyno testing and braking it in for the customer. Then he puts a signed plaque on the engine with your unique serial number.

Or the reality that a group of house wives at the Essex Engine Plant just slap the thing together and then race home to take care of husband and family. Believe what you want to believe but I would really take it easy on this engine for the first 1500 miles and then sacrifice a lamb if it still sounds good after that...

The replacement engine has probably never been running at all, so no.

That's one reason Godzilla costs a lot of $$$. Not done for the Mustang, but Ford probably does similar for the Ford GT.

Mass produced engines are not started at all. The GTR is a high dollar car that gets special attention. Maybe that was tongue and cheek?

Some companies do "run" the engine by rotating the ctankshaft at a low RPM for a short period of time, then monitor certain parameters to look for problems. Don't know if Ford does that or not

They are produced by a group of housewives. I am not making that up! Nothing like the GTR experience with the builder carefully placing his signed plaque on the car. The coyote may get a few flicks of cigarette ash from some gal taking an illicit smoke in the factory. That is the personal touch at Ford! :giggle:
