My 2018 GT seems to have a lot of paint chips. I bought my color (J7) paint to touch it up.
I used the touch up pen, but it seems to be a lot darker than the original paint, even though it’s the same color. (I can post pictures later)

what is the process to touch it up correctly? Do I have to sand the area first? Do I need to buff it afterwards?

Your car is a 2018 and likely sun faded a bit over the years which would explain why it looks darker... Try the Dr color chip posted above. I've had good results as well with that.

As someone who has suffered chronic pain for 11-years now, I too would like help with a pain touch up.

As others have mentioned, Dr. ColorChip is the way to go, repairs are virtually undetectable once completed.

If you can get past the forced bravado of the presenter, this video is an excellent demonstration of the system........................

Is that a question or an answer? They have everything pretty much…
And, there’s no “u” in color. :like: Because it’s an American car. :cwl:

I have used and currently have Dr Color Chip in Bullitt Dark Highland Green bought maybe 3 months ago. As others have said, it works very well for chips. For light scratches not so much, but what does...

I had a very large rock chip on my hood and had my detailer touch it up with Dr. Color Chip. I was not happy with the results, it almost looked black. After a discussion with him i realized that the deeper the chip the more difficult to match the paint without getting a shading effect. Dr Color Chip will get you 90% of the way there and make it undetectable at the 2-3 ft range.

Could you post a picture to see what you are seeing ? What color is your car?

Never tried the Dr color chip. But I might now lol.

But yeah, new paint will always be darker if the rest of your paint has faded even a little bit.

In the past I've added some white to whatever color with a pipette. Very very small amount. Then Shake like a maniac. It helps.

I also use the paint chip specific brushes on Amazon. Also helps.

Good luck and post results of whatever method you use.
