How does this sound then?

Distill a mix of ST, Tuner, Turbo, Ford, and TwinForce into TF.

Although Ford needs to have a high efficiency motor for the Mustang for corporate fuel economy reasons, they may not need to put so much emphasis on fuel economy in their sports car. TF would be exclusive to Ford and could be used to emphasize performance as well as economy on their Ecoboost equipped sportier cars, as in a TF Fusion.

Mustang and Ecoboost enthusiasts could read it as TwinForce.
Other car enthusiasts could read it as Turbo by Ford or Tuner by Ford.
SVT could add max horsepower numbers to it to indicate an SVT version.

Some Examples:

Interesting ideas John.

I've always preferred Twin Force to Ecoboost but I lost hope that the badge would change when they put the green leaf on the F150. It's gained a lot of traction as they poured a lot of money into marketing the name. I think Ford will either keep the badge off entirely or put a less green version of it on the Mustang.

I don't see the 2.3L getting any special badging because I think in an few short years it will be the base engine and in keeping with history the base Mustang will simply be Mustang.

Those of us fortunate enough to have read National Lampoon when it was a great magazine, would only think of TF as "Terminal Flatulence... Sometimes silent, always deadly."

It's just a different engine in a base Mustang

Just put a small EcoBoost 2.3L in the lower right corner along with the Pony of the base model. I haven't seen any other badges/names besides the CS lately. In the old days the automatic equipped GT was badged GTA, but the non-GT V8s just had the cubic inches on the Tri-bar Pony emblem.

I don't know, should there be a Mustang equivalent to the Camaro RS, SS, Z28, three level markings? The base V6 and the EB2.3L are almost the exact same horsepower. The EB just weighs a little less (we think) and gets a little better gas mileage, and might come standard with a little sportier wheels/tires and those extra dash gauges, big deal!

If you have to throw a name on it, I've got it, call the EcoBoosted Mustang the ET, and have it phone home.

I need to get another confirmation on this but, the EB2.3 Mustang could very well replace the Fiesta in USCC ST (Grand Am ST). That doesn't mean the Mustang will be called an ST but, it certainly wouldn't surprise me. Still need to see if the GT is running GS or if the GT350 is the GS car this year. I was hoping for a GT, GS and ST entry, going from 350 to GT to EB.

There are still some that call the EB Mustang an ST, this could just be an internal name used until the name is decided on. Hearing this from a Ford Racing source and not an OEM division.

I think Ford campaigned a Focus ST, not a Fiesta. I also think they are going to still be running the BOSS302R in GS this year.

Ford is spending a lot of money on their EcoBoost branding. Heck, they have that name on some of their NASCAR NW cars. I don't think it's leaving anytime soon and i'm sure you'll see the EB badge under whatever they end up calling the 2.3EB Mustang.

Yeah, that's what I was afraid of...

The issue here is before it was called EcoBoost, Ford branded it as TwinForce because it was forced induction using two turbos.

TF for TwinForce, or TwinForce wouldn't make sense on a single turbo 2.3.

Then there is SVO which wouldn't(and shouldn't) work because Special Vehicle Operations doesn't exist anymore(technically) -- it became Special Vehicle Team. I don't think Ford should slap a name on it for sentimental reasons, that dilutes what the original SVO was.

It seems like people really don't want a "ST" Mustang -- but in Fords current badging/branding scheme, ST is what makes the most sense, fits in with what is becoming THE turbo Ford performance line, and will resonate with the younger buyers they want to capture. We may not like it, but people know what ST is, and using it for the EB would be smart.

Personally I'm still very much in favor of ST being utilized by the 2.3l car. It does "fit" very well. It may also serve to aid a little in European sales.

Also, speaking as someong who has been the owner of a "base" Mustang it was always a peeve of mine when I would tell someone what I drove, when they asked; and I always got the question "Is that a GT?" I'd have to respond "No, its just a "regular" Mustang."

Granted, it wouldn't catch on immediately, but being able to respond with "Its an ST." as odds as it may seem would just (to me) feel better than having to play down my car just on account of its trim level.

Jesse, I believe TwinForce was for the two forces of Turbo Charging and Direct Injection.

I would guess that anyone who optioned up to the 2.3 would be even more peeved to not have a label to show off his choice.

Only the fleet/rental Mustang should be called a base Mustang.

I don't understand why it needs a badge? It's a Mustang and the best looking base model to this date. I don't see why Ford would put a special badge on it just for the USA. When people ask what it is either say an ecoboost or people can add their own badges.

They do it for the f150. They want to show off their options. EB on a Mustang is probably at least a $1,500 option.
