So apparently a core charge of $0.00 on their receipt actually means "oops, we forgot to add it, please send us an additional $50 for the core" :doh: freaking dealers. Looks like I need to look around a bit more for someone selling it for around $60 without a core...

LevittownFordParts can you sell this without a core charge? As I obviously don't have a core to return and am doing this for testing purposes :D

So I remembered I have a good friend with a Premium near by.

I need to buy the OBD connector and Forscan, then convince him to let me borrow his module for a few minutes and try this out, without the code change first, then with if it doesn't work. One of these weekends...

Keep us updated!! So assuming this does indeed work, to get Mycolor on the on the base cluster, all we would need to do is get the module (~$120?), connect a laptop to the OBD connector with the correct cable and change a setting in Forscan?

I would gladly pay $120 to just be able to change the color on my gauge cluster. Not sure If I want to be the guinea pig though..

Yeah, I don't want to pay around $120 for this to not work. If it does indeed work however, I may just be buying my own module :thumbsup:

And I'm going to try it without hooking up Forscan first and see if it just happens to recognize it. (I'm assuming it won't, but we'll see)

Zack, do you happen to have a diagram of exactly where this thing is located? I don't want to tear apart my friend's entire trunk if I don't have to. He also has the sub, so I hope it's not on that side lol

My friend with a premium said they dont care if I try their module either. I havent seen anyone around me post about playing with Forscan though. So all I could test is if putting the module does anything, without having to reprogram the cluster.

I'm trying to source information where this module is located too. Havent had any luck so far. Someone with a shop manual, please chime in.

Pretty sure I found it. Pull the trunk felt out that's behind the passenger tail light, and its right there (just where zack said it would be). Its held in by 2 7mm (I think) nuts. There's 2 female wiring harness ports, only 1 is occupied on my V6. I wonder if the other is occupied on the premium.

If someone hasn't tried it by next week, I'll bring a wrench set to my work and try my friends module out in my car. I don't think any issue should occur by trying this. But the thought of something happening to my car, or their module has popped up in my head.

That's it! I wonder as well if the other plug is occupied on the premium. That port might be for the ambient lighting components. What we need is the module as built data though. The base model modules will not accept the MyColor programming so hopefully the premium module will. That should tell the cluster to enable mycolor. That is the theory anyway since there is no physical or part number difference for the cluster. (IE the cluster should have the RGB equipment but just needs the command to activate it)

Was able to acquire the connector pinouts for the BCMB thanks to an old friend! I can confirm the second connector is used for ambient lighting such as the sill plates, footwell lighting, and so on. The second connector is also used on convertibles for the electric rear quarter windows. So what does all of this mean? This module IS responsible for MyColor and swapping it should activate MyColor in the cluster and allow you to install the complete ambient light system if you want to.

Awesome news! Since there is only 1 cluster type, then one could assume that no programming within the cluster should be necessary, either. Its a matter of time until someone finds out for sure.

:hail::hail::hail:

So excited for this!!! So you are saying just swapping the module without Forscan reprogramming should enable Mycolor on the gauge cluster? Also, assuming the module swap does indeed enable MyColor, would buying the OEM premium LEd zones (cupholder, doorsills, foot wells, door handles) and running wires to the second connector fully enable MyColor and ALL its functionlity?
