I guess I was lucky, the car had only arrived at the dealer 3 days before I bought it, I know as a friend works there and told me it was coming in.
They had 4 coming in all same spec apart from colour.

I said I waited a few months, it was not quite 3, about 10 weeks from when I first had the money to get one, so at least half the wait for a factory order, and it was the exact spec I would have ordered had I gone factory.

It's got 7 miles on the clock and is not pre Reg or ex demo, so as far as I'm concerned brand spanking new.

I asked about finance and got the numbers and they would not discount any more yet I'd be paying nearly ÂŁ7k extra on interest over 3 years, so it's a no brainer and save an extra ÂŁ7k and pay whole thing off now.

Yup you do right, still brand new, who cares how long it’s been sitting around? I certainly didn’t as the car had been sat in the new car compound where I work for over a year! 9 miles on the clock and covers still on everything, built August 2017 and registered December 2018!

Here’s mine after 12 months sat in the compound :)

I soon tidied her up...

Got just shy of 6k off my pre facelift and 0% finance so definitely worth waiting! If financing that 0% makes a big difference.
But with the greatest of respect you need to get ÂŁ6k off as you will see a much weaker resale value on a pre-facelift car even if it was registered in 2018.

There was a similar situation with some pre MY12 Lotus Evoras (MY12 Evora was a similar change to MY18 Mustangs) being registered in 2012/13 and their current values are significantly below a true MY12 car now. You pays your money and makes your choice but in the end it will not make a huge difference overall.

Not sure that is necessarily true as the additional cost of the facelifts is not translating though into the additional resale, many are not a massive fan of the facelift (there was a post somehwere about how Ford has recognised this) and issues with the engine tick etc.

Well the big discount has certainly helped, it may have lost a chunk if you use the retail price of £39,985 as a guide but with only paying 34k brand new for it the cap valuation is still at the 33k mark so I’m not doing bad 9 months down the line, infact I’ve more equity in it now than when I started ;)

... and its got blue calipers now - which massively add to the resale value!:cwl:
Hey if the calipers don’t add to it then I’ll whack a supercharger on it and put it up for 70 grand lol

That is the point though - it needed a big discount as the resale value of a 2018 registered MY17 will not be the same as a MY18 car. The list price also went up for MY18 so that will increase residuals at the same depreciation rate. As with all specialist cars though it is supply and demand that has the biggest impact on prices.

Horses for courses with pre / post facelift. I like both, but it was all the other MY18+ improvements that actually swayed it for me, especially the magneride which I think is fabulous.
