Sorry, I meant it is a MY2016, rather than a MY2017.Nope- it isn't "last year's car"
Even if there were significant differences between MYs (other than the lower tax), like most people I'd still rather stick with early delivery and DIB for the extra £500, but no harm in checking that the price is correct - if you don't ask you don't get! ;)
