Preach brother! That's it right...i mean, Toronto weather is similar to MI, which means 5-6 months out of the year is winter weather. I'm not paying full price for a car to drive it half the year, and you nailed it in how you take care of it. I've seen dudes with cars which they only drive on weekends when there's no rain, but their cars run like crap due to lack of maintenance.Good for you. I never store my fun cars but don't drive them if the roads have snow on them. In CO snow melts the day after it falls so you can drive on relatively snow free roads throughout the winter. Just need winter tires for the low temps and be okay losing some paint/windshields from the gravel on the roads.
I have had winter beaters in MI (years ago) without any rust. It is all about how well you take care of your vehicles. My 2001 Silverado is nearly rust free. Just starting to get some surface rust on control arms/frame and that has over 320k miles on it.
