  1. Differential Issue When Turning Sharp (Dangerous!!!)

My 2018 Ecoboost differential starting grinding when turning slow shortly after the 5 year warranty was up. Dealer installed some friction modifier, which did nothing. They pulled the differential, replaced a $50 clutch pack (and the broken spring) and $800 later it is as quiet as when I bought it.
  2. Fuel Question

I ran 91/93 octane in my 2018 EB until gas hit $4.00/gal. In Iowa the 91/93 octane costs around $1/gal more than 87. I really don't notice much difference in horsepower, but I don't race my car. I do get 2-3 MPG better highway mileage, but less than 10% better mileage doesn't offset the 30%...
  3. Why would you buy a USED Mustang?

I had my Ford dealer find me year old Mustangs when I bought my 2008 V6 convertible and my 2018 EcoBoost coupe on the Kansa City car auction. Both cars had about 10k miles, and I saved about $12k over new. The remaining warranty was still in effect. I will go that route next time, if I can save...
  4. EcoBoost to GT observation

My MPG after driving from St. Louis, MO to Cedar Rapids, IA (~230 miles) at 5 MPH over the speed limit. I filled my unmodified 2018 Ecoboost coupe with 91 octane in St. Louis. Hand calculation shows the computer calculation of MPG averages about 1.0 MPG high. Depending upon wind speed...
  5. Anybody ever watch TV auctions and get tempted to trade your Mustang for a classic muscle car?

Us old folk like our classics, cars I couldn't afford when I was young. I've owned a 1965 GTO 389 4 speed, a 1968 Torino GT fastback with a 428 4 speed, 2008 Mustang convertible with a V6 auto, and others. None compare to my 2018 Ecoboost coupe for driveability. I picked up a rusty one owner...
  6. How old are the "seniors" (over 65) on this forum?

I have named her "Kiki", after the original owner's wife. Kiki is a base convertible with a 302 2v and C4 transmission. Plan is to have a local machine shop bump the original 140 HP to around 300 HP. Plan to keep the original trans and rear end after having everything rebuilt. Will probably...
  7. Differential Noise

"OP can you ask your dealer for a part number for the clutch kit?" FR3Z4947A
  8. Rationale for choosing Ecoboost HPP over GT?

I bought an '18 Ecoboost coupe premium plus and love it. Best car I have ever owned, hands down. The 300+ horsepower will get me into as much trouble as I want. I didn't buy the car to race it or to impress anyone, I bought it because I loved my '08 V6 convertible and this car makes me smile...
  9. How old are the "seniors" (over 65) on this forum?

Turned 65 last year. Bought an '08 convertible in '08, replaced it with an '18 coupe in 08 (both were year old program cars). I picked up a '73 convertible a while back that will be my retirement project.
  10. Differential Noise

I looked at the complete traclok diff instead of replacing the plates, but they don't support the 3.15 gearing I have. I looked at a used differential from a local Mustang salvage place called Midwest Mustang, but that is $600 plus installation.
  11. Differential Noise

My 2018 EcoBoost coupe has started making grinding noise when turning at slow speed. Took it to the dealer, who drained the differential, installed new fluid and a "friction modifier". Not as noisy as before, but still not right. Dealer says he can order the parts at $50 for the clutch rebuild...
  12. Mustangs and Motorcycles . Let me see your bikes.

Sold this last Fall to make room in the garage for a '73 Mustang Convertible.
  13. How to you view your Mustang?

My '18 EcoBoost is my daily driver through rain and snow. My wife and I take it most places because it gets about 10 mpg better mileage than her Explorer. Plus I much prefer driving my car. It still makes me smile every time I drive it. I have a 1973 Mustang base convertible named Kiki...
  14. How old are the "seniors" (over 65) on this forum?

I am 65. My first Mustang was a 2008 V6 convertible I bought used in 2008. My second is the 2018 Ecoboost coupe I am driving everyday now. My third Mustang is a 1973 base 5.0 liter convertible that needs a total restoration.
  15. MPG high and low scores?

Filled in St Louis, MO with 93 octane, drove ~240 miles to Cedar Rapids, IA at 5 MPH over the speed limit. I haven't recalibrated my MPG meter, it reads 1-2 MPG high. I have measured up to 40 MPG if I have a tail wind.
  16. Highest mileage 18-19

Just ready to turn 39,000 on my 2018 EcoBoost Coupe, I bought it used as a Ford exec driven with 10,700 miles in Dec of 2018. Only problem has been a misfire on #2 cylinder on cold startup, Ford replaced the spark plug first, then the #2 coil. Haven't had an issue since.
  17. How do you guys “winterize” your Pony?

I bolt on my winter wheels with Michelin Ice-X tires and continue to smile every time I drive her!
  18. Thinking of trading it in for a ranger?

Has anyone bought a Maverick yet? Your thoughts? Considering trading my Ecoboost for one some day, after I get my '73 vert back on the road for the days when I need a Mustang fix.
  19. Mustang ecoboost or gt

I paid about $24k for my car in Dec 2018 with 10,700 miles. I get mid 20s for average mileage if I am not rodding it, will get 35 mpg when highway only driving at 5 mph over the speed limit. Wow what an amazing deal! I bought my '08 V6 vert the same way. I tell my dealer what specs I am...
