Some of y’all are aware I’ve been steadily working on my complete B&O replacement system. Well, all speakers are now in place and playing loudly . All work was done by me except for the current tune. Once I can work out a good schedule with a more advanced tuner I will have the system retuned using JL Audio’s MAX tuning system.
Full system consists of all JL Audio including:
Front
C7-100ct 1” tweeters
C7-350cm 3.5” midranges
c7-650cw 6.5” woofers
Rear
C5-650X coaxials
Two 12W3V3 subs in sealed box with 1.125 cu/ft airspace per sub
VX800/8i pushing all tweeters, 3.5s and rear coax
VX600/2i pushing front 6.5s
VX1000/1i monoblock pushing both subs wired in parallel to 2 ohms
Signal pulled using PAC Audio Amp Pro AP4-FD21 with Toslink optical output to a VXi hub for ease of tuning. Electrical consists of XS Power D4700 main battery and XS Power SB500-51 Supercap, Knukonceptz 1/0 power and ground as well as speaker wiring. Battery ground to chassis supplemented with 2 gauge wire in parallel with stock dual-4 gauge wiring.
Sound deadening is a mix of Sound Shield and Sound Skins with full treatment of trunk floor, rear trunk wall, 1/4 panels, full cab treatment minus roof and firewall, rear package shelf, outer and inner door skins, as well as the backsides of door panels and rear seat side trim panels.
Amp rack and sub box are built using 3/4” MDF, Titebond 3 wood glue, ” Brad nails, and CA glue. Carpet is charcoal gray from Joann Fabrics. Paint is Rust-Oleum hammered black
Tools used include Dewalt 10” table saw, JessEm router lift and table, Bosch router, Kobalt drill and jigsaw, Diablo blades and router bits, Whiteside router bits, Mobile Solutions router bit sets, router shield, CA glue, and template tape, Craftsman hand tools, sander, and shop vacuum, Oneida Dust Deputy dust collection system, and many other parts I’m forgetting right now.
Now onto the eye candy.
Last thing to do is fabricate beauty panels to clean up the overall look and to highlight the amps and subs. I will be using a mix of hidden LED lighting, acrylic edge-lit windows, and metal screened windows. Have not decided on color pallet for vinyl however the false floor will be the charcoal carpet from Joann to allow full use of trunk when needed
Big shoutout to @Cathul, @m3incorp, @StangTime and everyone involved in posting all the tips and tricks you’ve shared to ease the install of all this gear.
Feel free to ask any questions or PM me for specific details on the build. I learned most of the techniques used by watching Car Audio Fabrication on YouTube and speaking with multiple members on this forum as well as over at FordGT500.com
