I think I'm gonna start looking at migrating over to Sync III - car is a late built 2015 Premium GT with MFT & Navigation...system has been basically fine - slow and sort of a PITA to use, but functioning as it should. Car has 63,000 miles, and in the past month, issues have begun...
SD/NAVIGATION Fault, says "please insert SD card" removal does nothing, it comes back when it wants to. The other day, none of the submenus (text messages, settings, etc.) would work - the next day, everything was functional with the phone disconnected from the system, I did a factory reset, and all was good.
A couple days later, screen freezes on the pony logo, turning the car off, opening the door, pony logo remained. After about ten minutes, screen went black, then the "SYNC SYSTEM UPDATE" screen popped up. Everything went back to normal once that finished.
This morning, screen would not respond to any commands at all - Finally, it stacked all commands, did a few things on it's own like switching screens, etc. before finally showing the SD card fault, then screen went black, no camera, no nothing, and rebooted, again to the SYNC update screen, and once that completed, all was normal again....So, something is dying...this is so intermittent, that diagnosis is not likely....anybody been through this - and more importantly, has anyone had any SYNC III issues?
All of the aftermarket options appear to only apply to the small screen / non premium setup.
I'm also tempted to install a nice Pioneer/Alpine, etc. Double DIN unit where the screen currently sits - problem there, is I don't think anyone makes wire harness adaptors....
