Mustangs Sitting on the Lot

I am kind of surprised at how long it is taking to sell the early dealer stock coupes. The Guard PP I test drove on 10/15 is still unsold along with a Race Red GT which arrived shortly after. Is anyone else noticing this...may have a lot to do with our climate here in the north perhaps.

Dealer nearby sold one last week out of about 4? they are moving slow, but they have barely been marketed. Wait for more advertisements and they will start to roll out. We are still a minority group among most buyers

Selling like hot cakes in the south[emoji1] though there are some that have been sitting on the lot a bit.... probably the GT not many can or in a position to blow their cash just yet... ecoboost.is.definitely being pushed .... one thing is typical though.... not everyone likes the options a dealer selects on the stock cars... unnecessary extra cost...if there are any price adjustments like the 5 to 15k up prices... too much hassle for some to bother

Not exactly a great time of year to sell a muscle car. Given that they're luxury items and we're now in the holiday season I think people will wait. If I hadn't been so dead set on needing mine NOW I would have pushed through the winter, let the assembly line work out its bugs, read reviews, go on test drives etc.

Luxury item sales tend to slow in the winter months. If you're not an enthusiast, you can wait.

The one I test drove way back on October 11 is still available. Nobody, including me, is going to buy a Mustang in Fall in Michigan. I am waiting for Spring. If Ford could have had these cars out in August, I would probably be driving one right now.

One of the few Mustangs for sale near me has been on the lot for several weeks, even priced at $2100 or 6.5% below MSRP. It's an orange Ecoboost PP with the 50 years package, so its appearance definitely appeals to a very small segment of the Mustang market I would imagine

I'm also in a snow state, but see plenty of people driving Mustangs in the winter and plan to do so myself.

thats true, it IS winter. Although I would rather Ford take their time and work all the kinks out, this was the worst time of the year to launch this car

There are three of my friends (including me) that are all waiting to purchase because of the reviews. The constant stream of bad news didnt help. All three of us went from getting ready to drop money on a 2015 GT to waiting on the 2016 GT350 or 2016 Camaro.

Im not being negative nancy and Im not bashing the car. I'm just being honest about how the reviews were perceived by many of the "car guys".

Same here. My dealer has 3 V6 (orange, red, and yellow), 1 ecoboost premium (white) and 1 GT (black) on the lot not sold?? They only sold 1 black V6 in the last couple of weeks. I would have thought these would go like hot cakes.

I can attest to the options. I have yet to find one within an hour drive that has the options I want and even with dealer trades they couldn't find what I was looking for. I'll probably just end up ordering one around 1/1 to have it for spring.

I've heard a couple people comment on this, but I really have no clue what you're talking about. What reviews are you reading/seeing? All of the ones I've seen are glowing about the car from a street driving perspective. Are you referring to the article about the 1LE vs PP on the track? Which is interesting, considering the recent C&D rated the Mustang above the 1LE in real world driving. Not defensive or flaming, but really curious where people are seeing all these bad reviews. I read pretty much every review in the review thread, and the consensus I felt was overwhelmingly positive.

Yes the 1le vs PP review as well as many of the reviewers that echoed the same sentiment (flex/disconnected front and rear/etc). Many of the early adopters of sports cars are "car guys". The type of car guys I hang out with are willing to give up daily drive-ability for performance. I have personal experience that would indicate the initial reviews turned many of these types of buyers off. Many of us wanted the 1le but were holding out for the Mustang. The 1le has many issues that we hoped would be solved by the GT.

At a minimum we are waiting to see what the GT350 holds, what aftermarket performance upgrades come out for the GT and what the 2016 Camaro will hold. Another words we arent strictly saying we wont buy but we are saying we wont buy yet.

I will state up front that there is NOTHING on the road in this price range that can touch the new Mustang in regards to performance and comfort for a DD.

Motor trend is biased towards GM..which sucks... that interior on the camaro is horrid an inferior to the mustang... hell, I would not even bother to compare them but yet motor trend likes it....nonsense... all interiors of all fords I find outstanding... trucks alike
