VIN usually gets allocated a few weeks prior to production so if yours has been built it should have one...
What's funny is that no one can give me a VIN but keep getting told my car is coming, my dealer called me on Monday saying the car should be ready for pick up on the 04/02/2017 previously told 04/01/2017. Yet they can't give me a VIN either, so when I asked ford service via FB about this yesterday there response was to listen to the dealer and you should have your keys in hand by February.

Surprised a VIN isn't available if it's been allocated a delivery date/built

Thanks. Went onto cotus and I now have an ETD of Feb 10th. Very encouraging :). Don't have a build date yet but I doubt it is end of Jan as per Ford AU.
That estimated time of delivery on cotus is the approximate date to get to the dock at Baltimore so expect another month or 2 from that. Takes about 3 months to arrive in Aus after build.

Seems odd to me as well which is why I try to keep in constant contact with Ford and my dealer, but still sceptical on the information provided.

Just going to hold out until February and hope it is delivered, but has been very stressful as get updates which can't be backed up with information such as a Vin.

How do you find this info out? Ours was built 17 Nov and was told it was on its wY to Baltimore about 2 weeks ago. But heard nothing more. Is there a way you can find out rather than waiting for Ford telling you after the event?

Allan, go to the ETIS and window sticker process thread and scroll down where you see shipping. Click on the link, then track and trace, then put your vin number in the cargo id (the right hand side slot) and if your car is booked your details will show.

Put your VIN here (https://www.2wglobal.com) in the cargo ID field. You will probably get No Records Found. After 2-4 weeks your car will (hopefully) show a status of "Received at Terminal".

Thanks Guys took the words out of my mouth. My car got to Baltimore about 2 weeks after it left Flat Rock. Most people are waiting 3 to 4 weeks from arrival at the dock to getting a ship. That said things seem to be getting quicker..

Cheers everyone! I am not showing up yet so I will check daily from now. Not that it changes anything by cehcking all the time but it has been such a long wait you just want to know.

I have been reading such horror stories with these latest cars shipped to Austrlia having damage and poor fitment seeming to fit rushed builds. Its such an anxious worry to think it might happen to you too.

The early cars had all those problems too and the US guys still talk about it in theirs so I think it's just the standard of production. If anything people seem to say those problems are becoming less frequent, however I suppose we hear about the bad ones! Hopefully that's the case.

I really hope so. Alignment issues can mostly be fixed but its panel damage that would be annoying. But as you say, you hear mainly about the worst cases.

I am still excited though! Only had a couple of opprtunities to sit in one and recently was passenger on a track day. So much just want to sit in the drivers seat of my very own!
