Somebody canned one in Swindon a couple of weeks ago. Black or magnetic I think. Red ones seem to be OK

My body's got an in-built additional safety feature call 'Jazz [Honda]' mode.

I use it all the time in the wet/damp... not driven powerful RWD for a long time having had a glut of FWD and 4WD over the past 20 years, plus it's winter time so until I know what my, and the cars, limitations are, I'd rather be a pu$$y with a nice Mustang than a dick with a heap of scrap metal... :)

Pretty sure the P Zeros don't help. Mine is like a different car now that it's cold. Didn't get around to putting winters on in Nov/Dec and now it's half way through Jan, I think I'll just ride it out until next year.

I suppose the only issue is whether there are statistically more crashes in the 'stang than 'similar' cars? If so, then it doesn't bode well for our insurance premiums.

I don't think we can the Michelin Cross Climate tyres in our size by the way. Shame, as they get good reviews.

I think as a few have said on here, lack of experience with RWD and over-familiarity with FWD doesn't help, and we're all human and make mistakes and probably 90% are genuine accidents caused by the this and momentary lapses in judgement... but I can imagine there's a lot of armchair BTCC/WTCC drivers out there that buy these things (and other cars) for a kudos/image it gives them, and just think they're invincible.

Its easy to blame inexperience or whatever but it could be any one of us tomorrow. I really feel for the guys that have stacked their cars but I hope those f us that haven't can just tread a little more carefully and maybe these images will stop others stacking our cars.

Seeing all these smashed up mustangs makes me thankful that I quite often err on the side of caution in it. I'd much rather show it respect and arrive a few minutes later than not at all. Can't imagine what the owners are feeling right now especially if driver error contributed to it.
Yup. Done 11000 miles so far in all sorts of conditions on the Pzeros and can honestly say I've never gone sideways without meaning to. Even I left it at home today though. Mrs Tooley's old Peugeot 207cc got an outing. 25% of the horsepower, fwd and feels like nearly as much weight as the Stang did not make for slip sliding around. Does have better heated seats though! :D

Ps - the thing's been sat on the drive for two months but started first time. Grudging respect.

Ouch! hopefully all occupants are uninjured. Picked my car up from service in Telford today at about 4.30pm - just in time for a drive back in the freezing cold temperatures and snow. I took the cross-country route back to Wolverhampton (A442/A454). Car is still on the standard PZeros. I wasn't hanging about, but I didn't think I was going that fast .... and look what happened .......

...... F:censored:CK ALL! ..... :D

Do we know for sure the cars that crashed were on PZeros? You drive according to the grip you have available. Doesn't matter what the tyres are, you'll still crash if you go beyond the limit of adherence - on grippier tyres you'll just crash while going slightly faster. All other things being equal it's more to do with how you drive, not what you drive - in this type of weather grip levels are going to be inconsistent regardless of tyres .... all in my opinion, of course

Exactly why I keep going into 'Jazz' mode.

A few of the pics on this forum have scared me a little bit and made me temper my enthusiasm as they've reminded me of when I wrote-off my Opel Commodore GSE sports coupe back in the 1980's... because of nothing more than a slight fall of dew late one night on a shallow bend of country lane (plus I was driving like an idiot) :frusty: .

Never say never!

I kept my mustang in "sit at home" mode today, to be fair I didn't have anywhere to go though

it'll all be "front wheel drive heros' " as gibbo puts it stamping on it in 1st and 2nd with half a turn of lock on panicing when it lights up and just mainlining for nearest hedge/ditch.

on the upside all these write off ours are increasing in rarity and value :)

irony with the tyres is the focus st and I assume rs get mpss as standard in sizes that would fit at least the mustang's fronts :) wonder if the missus would notice if I swapped hers out for my pirelli

We are all highly sensitive to the photos and reports of mustangs leaving the road, but plenty of other cars are also being crashed at this time of year too.

I drove 15,000 miles on the track pack 255/40 P Zeros and now 18,000 on 275 MPSS tires I replaced them with and do not think the MPSS tires are any better in temperatures under 40F or 5C. They are both summer tires. i have been close to sideways at 55 mph on the MPSS's at 29F just by adding too much throttle in 4th gear. My next tires will be the Continental DWS 06's all seasons.
MPSS's are definitely superior in everything else!

Very sad to see anyone having a crash, it's such a pain what it does to your work, social and economic life, the impact (excuse the pun) is long lasting and expensive!

Up here at the minute, the roads are treacherous, fwd/red/awd, the main m ways and trunk roads are bad, but urban and estate roads are just sheets of ice.

I took my youngest daughters Mini Cooper Coupe to work today, fwd but still had to baby it a bit in the conditions (doesn't help that she runs her tyres down to slicks, I'll be having a word in her shell like later!), guy behind me, turning left onto an on ramp for the M74, being an arsehole in his Skoda estate, ended up facing backwards as he tried to accelerate past me because I was being canny!

Respect and light right foot required in these conditions, no matter what you drive.

I caned it home in Sport mode though :D (that's a lie ;))

If you're on here, Mustang crashes, hope you are ok and you get a replacement soon. Right then, where's that discount code for Asda!!!!
