This guy is describing what I am experiencing with the 2nd gear:

http://www.mustang6g.com/forums/showthread.php?t=69817
My recommendation is to start with the basic application of changing gear by pressing the clutch down to the floor and then proceed by disengaging out of 1st, feel the shift going through neutral and then move down to 2nd, instead of one swift movement. I'm not telling you how to suck eggs Erez. The application is required from 2nd to 3rd etc. Feel the movements and picture how it's moving into the gears.

Yep we all have different clutch and shift feel, but call me old school, there is no excuse anyone cannot master their clutch and there is no excuse for pig rooting.

I gotta laugh at the recommendations & solutions given in that thread to rectify the issue. It's the driver.

We know it's a huge investment to ship products from the US to you but the BG Syncro Shift fluid does help.

The back story is when we bought our car, it shifted like s***.
The first thing that went in immediately was the first generation Barton Shifter. That eliminated most of the missed or locked out shifts. The part we didn't expect was how much gear noise went away due to better isolation.

We tracked it for a season, had Ford change the fluid at about 3K miles because we heard horror stories as you have so we wanted a paper service record. Our transmission was refilled with the OE fill, including the additive they only use at the factory. I waited for the dealer to order in the factory fluids because they only stocked BG products.

We relocated from the Northeast to Florida and I had been researching the MT82 history and fluids used. We contacted BG and tried the fluid and didn't realize what we were missing. It ended the "snake oil" perception I had. It works.

We still recommend getting some miles on the car because the additive in the factory fill is designed to help with break in. After 1600-3200 KM the additive and fluid breaks down, the additive has done it's job. The transmission will benefit from a fluid change to BG.

I still can not encourage a change in shifter, we have no horse in the game but we run a Barton. MGW is a nice piece but Barton presented a case to me with less ego and the design appealed to me. Small details that in my engineering mind I was on board with. IMO the stock shifter ruins the driving experience. The Barton eliminated the annoying buzz from the shifter knob.

There are some threads on the forum for BG fluid changes. Majority noticed a big difference. We believe that the stack up of tolerances and assembly is the difference in how the transmission feels to different people. Some people hate it, some think it's great. We fell in the middle but were able to make it great with two simple changes that only improved the experience. Not everyone will see it but most do.

My car has only done over 1100 Klms, I find the gearbox fine. No funny noises or problems. The biggest problem is me!!
Getting used to a six speed coming from 4 and 5 speeds, learning the gate positions etc. I do have problems at times shifting from 4th to 3rd or 2nd when driving sedate, almost like the shifter wont go into the gear, but the gearbox is new, I need to give it time I guess.

I have the Steeda spring installed and take off is perfect, I can feel the clutch point and can drive it like a diesel truck with hardly any throttle, the feed back from the take off point is perfect at slow speeds.

Can't fault my manual, its a MY17, so don't know if they have improved the shift, but I find the shift short, precise with plenty of feel. The gearbox has a bit of a wine, but it gives the sound of a true muscle car, makes the car feel more raw, the way it should be. Where not driving Limo's guys, where driving Mustangs..!

i agree with you yeahnah. i have no problems with mine. shifting has become even smoother after my tune and headers. seems like theres a lot more engine breaking than before which makes shifting easier, to me. but i liked it even before the mods. tom

TR60 swap would also improve things lol.

It seems like we are in a similar boat with the issues
I'll be suggesting to the Ford guy tomorrow when they look at my gearbox for the third friggen time!? that I'll sling em 500 bucks and they can chuck the 6060 in it! The gearbox it should have had in it from the start!?!?!?!!!!

The tune probably improved your shifting after they got rid of the rev hang issue that Ford have built into it.
Not sure if Ford put it there for emissions reasons or on the assumption that people can't actually drive a manual properly, but it's frustrating as hell for those of us who can actually work three pedals

Well, actually not bad.
Two guys from Ford Oz, came for a ride in the car and agree that, yes it is not good enough.
Friday we will drop the oil and see what's in it. Then it can either be rebuilt or a new one fitted. Interestingly he said; you may want to rebuild as a new one might still be noisy. That doesn't instill confidence!
He also said I can wait as long as i like to have this done even if they find nothing in the oil.
Btw I'm at 4400k and it's getting worse. Still shifts fine though.

Interesting. Any chance you can record the sound of the gearbox? Would be interesting to hear what is not good enough for Australian standards

I'll have a go with my phone Erez but it may not be hi-fi enough to catch it.
So how's yours driving?

I have over 10,000km on mine and the gearbox is fine, it does take time master the art of smooth shiting and it sometimes can make some (non excessive) noise, but no issues other than that.

Thanks FIXR7

I’m getting better shifting now, I guess it does take time to master (I’m far from mastering it) and hopefully the Steeda spring (tomorrow) will help with that.
It’s still noisy – some weird noises, but not a major whine.

Ok yes, I've been thinking about the spring. Some have suggested the spring is not required on '17 models but I think it still lacks feel. The demo I tested at Lane Ford has a completely silent gearbox. My GS ute with the 6060 was also completely silent.

Installed the Steeda spring today, and I must say I agree with what was said here - It is not that much different feel than MY17 OEM spring
