Hi everyone,

So a good number of people down on the forums down here in SoCal have met me when I am able to crawl out of my hobbit hole and devoid myself from studying for the CPA exams for the occasional cruise. However, I want to let people know that I will be moving up north to Sacramento in early September to start my new job as an auditor for the state.

That being said, I have a couple of questions for those members up in the Sacramento area:

1. Who is your preferred Ford dealer for maintenance?

2. Where do people go for weekend drives / canyon runs / someplace where there are curves and scenery...

3. Any other things I should know about moving up to Sacramento (yes I am well aware of the weather difference).

Thank you very much.

Are you going on the norcal/socal meetup cruise this weekend? If so have a talk with Michelle (@Kona1869). She organizes Sacramento area cruises and should be able to fill you in.

I would not suggest any dealers for maintenance. But that's just me. But if I had to choose than Harrold or future ford Roseville. Otherwise there is sinister mustang, AED, or forcefed performance can handle maintenance other that warranty work. Oh and welcome to the SAC!

Welcome to Sack-a-Tomatoes! This place will grow on you....I'm from San Diego, and moved here (~30mi NE of Sac, in Placer County) for work about 10 years ago. Didn't think I'd stay long, but the ratio of quality of life for cost is about as good as it gets in CA. You can have a real nice life for much less money than in LA/SF/OC/SD. Very easy to get down to the Bay Area, coast, up to Tahoe, etc. Much less traffic than the bigger cities, especially where you came from.

On your questions;

1) I'm not the best resource for this, because I do everything but alignments and tire mounting myself, but I've heard decent things about Future Ford in Roseville. If you end up wanting to pay someone for mods to be installed, or want to do any service outside of the dealer, I'd recommend My Auto Surgeon in Rocklin (http://myautosurgeon.com/).

2) The most fun roads in the area are in the Sierra Foothills, lots of turns and elevation changes, and good quality road surface. Routes 49 and 193 are a good place to start. But the real fun is that we have a great local race scene - solid local autocrossing through local SCCA chapter, and three world-class road racing tracks in easy driving distance (I can get to Thunderhill in an hour and a half).

3) Number one summer survival tip around here is to make sure you have access to a pool! When it's brutally hot (like right now, for instance), you want to be either in the A/C, or the water. And it sucks to be stuck inside. Everything else is easy...

Have a safe move! :thumbsup:

The rest of the Sac region events (non-Mather) are at Stockton, San Joaquin Fairgrounds by the oval track. It's a smaller area, but they often run double loops as one lap, so it doesn't feel like you're on a small course. Coincidentally, they are running there today and tomorrow....you should go. My car is still in pieces in the garage, so I unfortunately won't be there. :(

Rivercats game tomorrow, so no can do. Maybe next time around. Looks like September is the 10th/11th, which is another T-Hill weekend. Choices, choices.
