Sorry for a second post on my latest x-pipe mod in as many days but I started noticing some terrible noises under the car since the install which I'm guessing is from the x-pipe? I hear some terrible metal noises/squeaks every time I slow down near a stop coming from under the car. The best I could describe it might be if you were to imagine some squeaky springs bounce up and down if that makes any sense. Occasionally there are also some (whomping if thats a word) air sounds coming from under the car which I'm not sure is natural. This is on top of my previous post regarding this mod that it turned out to be too loud and harsh....this particular combo with my roush axelback just sounds terrible. I started seeking out different axelback options after previous feedback on this when I started noticing strange noises that are defeinitely not due to the AB.

I'm really starting to regret this mod since its been a terrible week living with it but unfortunately I did not save my resonators :frusty:

Anyone have any insight what the metal squeak might be? Do you think its a leak or the clamp or something else?

I'm at the point I might just rip out the entire setup and get a gt350 exhaust kit. Any help in keeping my sanity greatly appreciated.

Maybe start over?

I'd wager there is someone in the tri-state area with an oem catback that would let you have it for cheap or even free to get it out of their garage.

A little late now for you, but if there's one think I've learned is to never get rid of your oem parts, even if they take up room you need...

There's got to be an issue with a clamp hitting/scraping or being loose or something. I don't understand any other scenarios in which just the flow of the x-pipe would cause what you're describing.

Either get under it and check everything front to back OR have a pro look it over and get it sorted out for you. THEN toss 2 bullet style mufflers or resonators on after the X and keep the Roush AxleBacks and be happy! It will cost you less and take less time to sort out your issues than buying new stuff and hoping you like it better.

Buy a Solo Performance catback and stop screwing with this X-pipe axleback combo malarky.

Make sure your down pipes are fully seated into the X-pipe.
Make sure those clamps are centered and torqued to 35#
Make sure there is no gap between the X-pipe and your axle backs
Make sure those clamps are centered and torqued to 35#
Make sure none of the clamp bolts are rubbing against anything
Make sure the axle backs are centered and not rubbing against anything
Make sure the axle back hangers are in the rubber isolators of the brackets
Make sure the axle back bracket bolts are tight

Did I forget anything?

I went FRPP X-Pipe with the stock mufflers and have been happy with the sound.....just enough for me. I had mine installed at the same time the blower was installed by a FRPP authorized shop and have had no issues.

Exactly. An exhaust shop should be able to fix the squeaks without issue. If you don't like the sound, add two bullet style resonators. I did and it sounds amazing with the Roush AB.
