There is no reason for huge cars.
There is the "we know better than you" mentality. CAFE standards have killed more kids than gas stoves, leaded fuel, diesel particulates and DDT combined.

Don’t forget to add camp lejeune water to that list.

Incorrect.

Quite. And your point?
My point was most modern cars are too big and don't need to be. You can make two cars out of the materials used in an F150 - so not exactly efficient!

If you live in a city for example a small car is better than a big car.

Hello; Much of my life I have owned a small car starting with an Opel Kadette in 1970. Then a Porsche 914. Then a Honda Civic HF. Then a 1991 Nissan Sentra SE-R. Last, so far, A 2001 Sentra SE. Fine cars even tho small. All except the Opel got well over 30 MPG overall. Two got over 40 MPG.
The small cars are fine for commuting to work and getting from A to B. Some of those i owned were fun to drive as well.

Starting in 1978 I have also owned either a full-sized pickup or Ford van. Simply cannot do the things a body on frame truck can do with a small car. Tow a boat for fishing fun or haul materials/equipment for work.

The sad thing was long ago and still continuing is that the agencies came up with different CAFE rules for cars. They applied the MPG rules harder onto the big sedans than onto the work trucks. Made sense in terms controlling the populations vehicle choices.
Made sense in that they had not completely lost all reason and gave the work trucks a less restrictive MPG level. After all, for the first decades there was no way to have a work truck get good MPG and still be able to do the tasks critical for day-to-day life.

So at least two things happened. One is lots of people decided they did not like the smaller cars so started buying and using trucks and SUV's like a car. That trend is so strong I am having a very hard time finding a basic work truck today. I can find luxury full sized pickups with four doors and a short, 6-foot, bed almost anywhere. But finding a regular cab with an 8-foot bed is a challenge.
Even before the BEV incentives & mandates altered how manufactures have to operate, the sales of small and really efficient cars had dropped. Ford dropped the Focus for example. The truck & big SUV trend is a result of the government trying to control sedan MPG's.
They killed off larger sedans with too restrictive CAFE rules so people wind up driving the full sized pickups/SUV's in place of sedans which get much worse MPG's than a large sedan could get. A government mandated tactic which backfired in terms of intended outcome.

Another thing which happened over the decades was even the MPG's of small cars dropped. Again due to government agencies mandating things. The 1985 Honda Civic I had got over 40 MPG anytime a road trip was made. This was well before hybrids. Too many of even small cars now days are rated in the mid 20 MPG range. This with advances such as direct fuel injection which increases efficiency over even port FI.
That old Honda which got 40 MPG was not even port FI. It had AC so was comfortable. It was also much lighter than todays cars. Too many mandated add ons from agencies. Again, the government mandates making the outcome worse.

Need is a personal thing. You don't get to decide what other people need.

I do agree, though, that modern cars are much fatter than they should be. Because they're getting bigger and bigger on the outside, while the interior space remains approximately the same. I guess that's the price we pay for the gazillion NCAP stars and health-and-safety-mandated gizmos.

WTF…….The smallest EV‘s are just as heavy as a full size truck. You don’t make any sense.

There is no reason for huge cars. The Mustang is seen as a big car here!

CAFE is easier to meet with smaller more efficient cars (ICE).
Shortsightedness you are.
It isn't about size. It is about the weight added by the safety nazi's and the need to have huge h/p in a basic vehicle.
If people would buy a unit with 130 hp or less instead of having to have 300+ they could use smaller engines .
When those that review vehicles call units with 240 hp underpowered and the buying public trust these books/rags. All the brands up the power in the basic a to b people movers.
Size has nothing to do with it, And those with a family bigger than a single mom and A child need a bigger vehicle.
You are not fitting 2 parents and 4 children in a golf!
Maybe trade off your Too big Mustang for a tiny car as seen as you seem to hate the car.

Did you see the gas truck that caught fire and caused I-95 to fall in Philly?
Did you see the BEV that sunk a ship?, The E bikes that have burned down apartment buildings? The BEV's that burn down houses?

Now now BEVs and EVs don’t burn as often as gas vehicles do. Even though that came from a truncated skewed test of EV and BEV cars which gave the electric cars false numbers.🤷🏼‍♂️

Read the EV ship story. Fact is they don’t know what caused the fire.

Bikes were probably stored improperly.

Burn down houses? You mean that story of damage to a garage?

Problem is you are pushing your political agenda and can’t tell the truth.

That is okay, live in your world. Everything explodes around you! 😳😏😂

Perhaps you could provide the evidence for your statement?
