I had a general thread going about this in the RR section but wanted to bring it up to this section for a more technical discussion on the minimum oiling needs for the Coyote engine throughout the RPM.

I'll start off with the acknowledgement that pressure and flow is not the same and it's the constant flow that keeps the engine lubricated, but for this discussion I can only focus on the pressure given everything is working properly.

Anyway, so my question revolves around what the minimum pressure is needed for the engine at high RPM and load. I know that at idle and light throttle/load there isn't much needed, but what about at high load and RPM.

For example, in my car I tend to see upwards of 70-75psi anywhere from 4000-7000rpm when oil is at operating temperature, but as the oil temps climb I start to see it top out at 55psi. Wondering if that is enough? I know there is a general requirement of about 10psi per 1000rpm, but that's relatively vague as different engines require different oiling needs.

As the oil thin out due to heat, the pressure starts to drop because the oil is being squeezed out of the bearings easier.
Flow is more important than pressure. Flow keeps parts cooled. Oil pressure has nothing to do with film strength.
