Today I pulled out of my garage and car said 4 miles to empty. I drive about 1/2 mile and was out of gas. :( Not cool, anyone else experience anything like this?

Exactly what I was thinking. They tell you that is an estimate. Every car is different and your driving and consumption varies all the time. There is literally no way for that to be accurate. Previously, when my last Mustang would get to 0 miles to empty, I'd still have more than a gallon of gas in the tank. It seems with this one they are doing a much closer estimate. My guess is so you see more miles to empty when you fill up?

Yes that is weird. I have had it read 0 miles and I drove 10 miles before I found a gas station.

guys i don get it.. Miles to empty is an approximation of your driving... mileage ...and when you start your car and raise it or reverse it or speed up.. it affects it.. and who waits in this world till ur car is drop empty to fill up...i always fill it up when it shows 40-50 miles to empty.. because driving pattern every second changes... at uphill i might accelerate more... and boo now it will come down to 25..

As is the mph is off by 1.5 miles higher and the avg. mpg is a couple of miles higher. This is probably normal.

I got back in town late at night and everything close by was closed so I figured I'll wait till the morning since a shell station was right down the street. My car was parked in a flat surface garage. I just read on here that a few people had their fuel gauges that were inaccurate from the factory.

Not sure if it's still the case on the new car, but I was always told to keep it at a 1/4 of a tank of higher to help keep the fuel system cooling properly. While it will operate fine with less fuel in the tank, you cause things to run hotter, which can lead to early failures.

yea, i'm not going under 1/4 of a tank again. When you fill up does the needle go past the F?

I think you can run them lower than that now but it still has the same function where gas cools the fuel pump. Running out of fuel is very hard on the pump.
