How are you going to have room unless they are tube mufflers? Yes, a sound difference, but I still don't think there will be enough room.

Also, mid-mounting is deeper and it makes the exhaust sound like it's coming from the pit of your engine vs actually coming from your tailpipes. It's pretty noticeable but it's not going to make or break a setup for you.

Foxbody had mid-mounted mufflers.

What are you looking for in doing this exactly though, if your looking for that old deep 4.6 sound the coyote simply will not provide that for you.

I have the Pypes H Bomb catback. 3”, H-pipe and mid Mount resonators.

It’s super deep and yes it does alter the tone quite a bit having them mid way under the car versus at the bumper. Still sounds like a Coyote though.

I’ve been contemplating using 2 Borla XR1’s about midway instead of the borla S’s at the end of the exhaust. I did it on my 86 SVO and the difference was phenomenal, got rid of any rasp and changed the note to a very, very deep one. It did make the sound quite a bit louder in the car though.

I would think the drone inside the cabin would be unbearable with a mid mount. I dumped my turbo exhaust right below me and it was too much even with turbos muffling the exhaust.

Weird. I have the Dynomax race mini bullets, mid-mounted, and it’s as loud as your going to get with stock headers. Drone is negligible.
