Mid-cycle refresh... when?

i want to get the perf pack with auto, hopefully next year it will available and it will have a new 8 speed tranny. Im going to drive a manual saturday, i may just go that route even with 2 reconstructed acl's(thanks mma)
I am not seeing any silver mustangs in my area, thats the color i want. I also like the white and i want to see the DIB and orange in person before making a final decision.

I'm also waiting for the PP and auto, but 8 speed? Where did you hear that? That would be the most magical thing in the world. They are working on a 10speed but that wont be coming any time soon either.

Of course there's nothing wrong with waiting, but to maintain the mentality that you'll hold out for a facelift if--all else considered--you're ready to get into a new car, then what's the point? There's always something newer around the corner.

Well let's say you see the gt350 from fascia and love it, knowing that they threw the gt500 front on the s197, one might wait for that. I myself just want something more different than my 11 6, I don't need a new car. I don't want the same 6 speed, I also would love the 350 front plus some incentives to buy would help.

Sounds like your situation isn't like the one I'm describing. The S197 facelift isn't exactly an indication of things to come; didn't that facelift specifically revolve around the placement of the leading edge of the hood due to safety regs? It made sense to carry over the majority of the GT500's template. That's not to say that this will be an established practice. I highly doubt something as wild as the GT350's fascia will trickle down to the volume models.

For people *looking to buy a new car*, there is little point in holding out for the newest thing coming down the pipeline unless you're unsatisfied with the current offering, not for some kind of power bump or whatnot. Power bumps, chassis revisions, aesthetic changes, the typical things that come with facelifts... they're never going to stop. Might as we'll pull the trigger at some point. It's not like one's enjoyment is directly proportional to the minor revisions bound to take place.

That is just as bad as waiting for the next computer or tv except those cycle anywhere from a month to six months and the next best thing is already out... now the brand new computer and or tv is already dated...lol

A 50 year anniversary only comes once
It was a special thing so that is part why I wanted the mustang ( first ) since they finally ditched the awful solid rear... the handling is a dream compared to the ones in the past

Thanks for stating the obvious. The point of this question was to figure when ford will:

1) Possibly have some trickle down from the 350 i.e. magnaride.

2) Have all the initial production year gremlins sorted out. Some already being reported and more to come.

3) Also, I have a feeling that ford rushed to have this car out by its 50th and still has stuff left on the table for it. For example, the corvette got updated packages and transmission in the second yr.

The car is awesome now and if i didn't have a car that I enjoy I would make the purchase. Earlier adopters of any product pay the most and deal with all the gremlins. This car will only get better and cheaper..... I hope.

I personally think the car looks good right now in the appearance and interior departments. I would like to see a refresh take the styling in an even more modern direction, though. The main thing I would consider waiting for is the appearance of a better auto trans.

I'll agree with you there especially with points 2 and 3. I've never purchased a car on the first year so it's a question I've been battling too especially since I'll be looking at the gt350 with a completely new engine.

As for them rushing it out...I feel that way too. Just look at the reveals for it. December and April both seemed rushed. Fast forward to Tuesday when they released the gt350, everything seemed well thought out and ready for questions. Seemed much better prepared vs the initial car reveal.

Ultimately comes down to personal preference and how long u r willing to wait. Me with the gt350, it's been a LONG time coming and I don't have any enjoyment driving a VW tiguan so I want it as soon as I can get it...then you with a car u enjoy, can afford to wait. A trade off either way.

I'm probably getting a 16 depending on when the 12 is paid off. If not I will wait for the 18 reveal and decide between a 17 or 18. Colors will play a big part in my book.

Hard to say. The 05 went through 09 without being touched. 5 model years. The 10 got new engines in 11, and then was refreshed in 13, so it's been very fluid, but the 10 engines were boat anchors and no one liked that styling very much so the 13 refresh was well-received.

Before that, the 99 model was built through 04, 6 model years, without any change. 94-94; 5 model years. 87-93; 7 model years. Before that, some shorter refreshes 79-82 were the same, 83-84, and 85-86.

My guess is 18/19 before they change anything.

05-09 and even 99-04 there wasn't really much competition, the camaro is now very strong competition refresh will come sooner

Just a minor correction.

In 10 they introduced the new body while still using the old 4.6

In 11 the 5.0 was introduced.

That facelift... I think I remember that one... didn't it revolve around pedestrian safety? Lol I mean it isn't smart for a pedestrian to jump out in front on a normal basis....
