So what tire will be recommended for winter driving on this car for those of us living up nord, altho given the nasty ice melt used on the roads it might be better to park it rather than ruin brakes, rotors, etc.?
I like the Blizzaks I've been running, but any good snow tire will work. You might want to buy some narrower rims to make the tires less expensive and keep the snows on the second set of rims. I have some 19 inch rims from my 2011 Brembo GT that I will be using. You can look on Tire Rack or other online suppliers at reviews to help you decide. You can even get by on a good set of all-seasons, but for me I like performance driving, so I hate having limited traction. I enjoy the winter a lot more with a better set of tires.

People already think I'm crazy for driving my GT in the winter, but I would rather expose the car to salt than drive something I hate for 6 months of the year. I can't afford to have a second car that will drive better in the winter but that I actually will enjoy driving, so to me it's better to drive my main car year 'round.

Just sold my 2011 GT which was wearing Continental extreme contact DW tires , tires were great and would hook like crazy, but i found the only downside to these tires was they would pick up every single little rocks when driving at low speeds, of course you could ear all that debris get thrown inside the wheel wells and that would drive me crazy.

So i'm wondering about those Michelin's and their thread compound.

Has anyone ever driven their Stangs with these tires ?
I have them on my 2014 GT w/ Track Pack in 265/40-19 (front GT500 OE size). I like them alot. Great grip. They are expensive, but will get 'em again. The only concern is they'll never work in snow, but no similar tire will work well in snow either so... Also, the big issue is they like some heat. Cold tires on a cold day and you'll break traction much easier. I like the tread because that outter tread is pretty durable on the track compared to a lot of D.o.T. tires. I highly recommend them.

I drove on mine (285/35-18's all around) for about 6 months and 6 track days last year. Sure, when you get them hot from a 20 minute track session, they'll pick up every loose pebble and grain of sand (and eventually spit them off), but I didn't find them to be all that bad in this respect otherwise. Didn't have any problems with tramlining or other forms of directional instability even with them mounted on wider wheels than what most people would choose for that size (11") and running about -2° camber.

It was a good enough experience that my wife's LGT now rides on PSS in that car's OE size and for a stack of PSS in 265/40-18 to be sitting ready for the Goodyear Asymmetrics on my GT500 3-season wheels to hit the wear bars.

Seriously,

You can buy a beater for less than a set of tires for this car.
Bingo. Even if you put all seasons on it, a 520hp+ car with 285+ wide tires all around is going to be dangerous

Fixed. ;)

Seriously, for those of us who like to daily drive a fun car, high winding engines are great. I keep the Coyote below about 3,000 rpm on seriously low traction days. I'm sure I will not have big problems driving the GT350 in similarly poor conditions.

Much better than trying to drive a blown or large displacement vehicle with lots of low end torque in the winter.

I like my Blizzaks. I'll use them on the GT350 as well.

I have MPSS on my GT500. Best performance (street) tire I have ever used.

Pure scaremongering rubbish. It's only 520+ HP when you have the skinny pedal matted and the revs are somewhere north of 7000 rpm . . . sure, those who hardly know any other way to drive are going to be dangerous - in most any car at most any speed under most any conditions.

FWIW, for about 3 seasons out of the year, all-season tires will give away more than they will gain. For what's left of the year, there are better tire choices depending on where you live, so there may still not be any over-riding reason to choose them. All-seasons have their place(s), but 3-season usage on a high performance car isn't one of them.
