It's time to have open wallet sugery and pull the trigger on 4 new Miches. Just wanted to check with people, are these definitely a good all-year round choice, as they are classed as a summer tyre (like the p zeros)?
I've been driving my 2018 GT in temps as low as -2c and haven't had any issues with grip so far.
By no means have I taken it easy, but I make sure to not go stupid until there is sufficient heat in the tyres, if that is at all possible in such cold weather.

They are a summer tyre not an all season, so below temperatures of 7 deg they are not particularly effective.

You can run whatever tyre you like in whatever temperature but summer tyres (hence the name) begin to lose performance below 7 deg. That's why you see so many prats in snowy conditions skidding all over the place (4x4 or not) as they have the wrong tyre on.

Thanks for the replies. It looks like there's poor pickings for 'all season' tyres in our sizes anyway.

It's frustrating there are so many options on the other side of the pond but so few in Europe. I can only find one all-season option (Bridgestone Weather Control) and, as is the case with some of the winter options, the fronts are only V-rated whereas the rears are Y-rated.

According to a review in AutoBild (where it came 10th out of 12) it handles well and has good braking performance in wet and dry conditions but it performs poorly on snow and ice...

And they all seem to be 'SUV' tyres (whatever that means). Also found 'Nokian Weatherproof' in 255/40.

Can't be done with the hassle of changing from summers to winters every 6 months. Done that for years (with a BM), it's worthwhile but is a time consuming pain in the A.

if you need a winter / shitty weather tyre you're hardly going to be breaking V rating speeds are you

All-season tyres aren't "shitty weather tyres", they're all year round. The real concern is that if you fit tyres with a lower speed rating than the OEM tyres (even though our speed limit is 70mph) insurers make choose to take a dim view of it (i.e. use it as one of the many ways of trying to avoid paying out).

no point in fitting all weathers the mpss and i would assume the mps4s will both out perform all weathers in all but the worst of weather types so you may as well just treat it as an on off switch. On = summer tyres off = full winters/snow tyres just skip the all seasons they're crap constructions usually and designed for run of the mill boring wagons the mustang will just destroy them.

A friend of mine in the Inverness area has recently ordered a set of Bridgestone A005 all seasons tyres. Will get an update soon. If they come up to expectations, this will probably the route for me at changing time.

All weather tyres are the worst as they are comprimised in all conditions. If you must take your Mustang out in near freezing conditions (I wouldn't) then buy a set of winter tyres.

Yep, for "poorly" read "like bambi on an ice rink" (and that's with mpss all round). If it snows, forget it. 400 horses, rwd and wide tyres don't work on snow. Mine sat on the drive til it melted

Be careful with that, that's how my water leaks started!
